The following information shows you how to configure various communications
programs for use with Intel modems. Please note the meanings of the
following symbols:
<Fx> means "press the function key indicated by 'x'".
<Esc> means "press the Esc key".
<Enter> means "press the Enter key".
<Ctrl-X> means "hold down the Ctrl key, press the indicated alpha key
(X in this example), then release the Ctrl key".
<Alt-X> means "hold down the Alt key, press the indicated alpha key (X
in this example), then release the Alt key".
PROCOMM 2.4.2
NOTE: This version supports only Software Flow Control (XON/XOFF).
It will not take advantage of the Hardware Flow Control
(RTS/CTS) control built into the MNP class modems.
After entering Procomm, press any key to go directly to the Terminal
Mode.
■ Set the port and baud rate from the "Line Settings" menu.
─ <Alt-P>
─ Select the "Port" on which you installed your modem.
─ Select the "baud" rate for your modem:
2400B Classic/2400EX 2400
2400B MNP/2400EX MNP 4800
9600EX 38400
NOTE: You will see each baud rate listed twice with different
communications parameters. Select the parameters that best
match those of the systems you call. If in doubt, select the
"N,8,1" parameters.
─ Type: 24 <Enter>.
■ Set other options from the "Setup Menu".
─ <Alt-S>
─ Press 1 then <Enter> to select "Modem Setup"
─ Press 1 then <Enter> to select "Modem Init String".
─ Type ATZ then <Enter>.
─ <Esc>
─ Press 2 then <Enter> to select "Terminal Options".
─ Press 3 then <Enter> to select "Flow Control".
─ Press <Space> until "XON/XOFF" appears then <Enter>.
─ <Esc>
─ Press S then <Enter> to save "Save Setup to disk".
─ <Esc>
Now configure your modem. You only need to do this once.

■ Enter the correct command for your modem:
2400B Classic/2400EX: type AT&C1&D2&W <Enter>
2400B MNP/2400EX MNP: type AT&C1&D2\N3\J0\Q3\V1&W <Enter>
9600EX: type AT&F&W <Enter>
QMODEM 4.2
The first time you run Qmodem, it automatically takes you to the "Setup
Menu". After the first time, call up the "Setup Menu" using <Alt-N>.
■ Set the baud rate and port from the "Modem" menu.
─ Press M to select the "Modem" menu.
─ Press C to select "Communications parameters".
─ Press A to select "Default baud rate".
─ Highlight the baud rate for your modem then <Enter>.

─ Press J to select "Serial port".
─ Type the number of the COM port on which you installed your
modem then <Enter>.
─ <Esc>
■ Set the modem initialization string.
─ Press M to select "Modem Commands".
─ Press I to select "Initialization Command".
─ Type ATZ^M then <Enter>.
─ <Esc>
NOTE: QMODEM comes with COM1 and COM2 defined, but COM3 and COM4 are
undefined. If you installed your modem on COM3 or COM4, use
the following commands to define the address and IRQ for COM3
or COM4. If you installed your modem on COM1 or COM2, skip
over this section to the next ■ .
■ If necessary, set the COM port "Base" address and "IRQ".
─ Press P to select "Port Addresses".
─ Highlight the "Base" address of your modem's COM port then
<Enter>.
─ Type 0 , your modem's 3-digit address (2E8 or 3E8), then
<Enter>.
─ Highlight the "IRQ" of your modem's COM port then <Enter>
─ Type your modem's IRQ number then <Enter>.

■ Set "Host" mode options.
─ Press H to select "Host" options menu.
─ Press I to select "Init Command".
─ Type ATZ^M (delete any extra characters) then <Enter>.

■ Set flow control for your modem.
─ Press O to select "Options".
─ Press T to select "Toggles".
─ Set the following option for your modem:

■ Exit the Setup Menu and save the changes.
─ Press E to select "Exit".
─ Press S to select "Save Changes".
Now configure the modem. You only need to do this once.
■ Enter the correct command for your modem:
2400B Classic and 2400EX, type: AT&C1&D2&W <Enter>
2400B MNP and 2400EX MNP, type: AT&C1&D2\N3\J0\Q3\V1&W <Enter>
9600EX, type: AT&F&W <Enter>
SMARTCOM II V2.1
This version supports only Software Flow Control (XON/XOFF). It will
not take advantage of the Hardware Flow Control (RTS/CTS) control built
into the MNP class modems. You must also include the "FILES" and
"BUFFERS" statements in your CONFIG.SYS file.
After entering Smartcom II, hit any key to go directly to the Terminal
Mode.
■ Set the port and baud rate.
─ Press 6 to select "Change Configuration".
─ Select the port your modem is installed on.
─ Press 2 to select "Edit Set".
─ Set Connection type to CCITT 2400.
─ <Enter> at each screen until prompted "Save it to disk?".
─ Press Y to save the changes.

TELIX SE
After entering Telix SE, you are in terminal mode.
■ Activate the "Configure Telix" menu.
─ <Alt-O>
■ Set the baud rate, port, and flow control for your modem.
─ Press T to select "Terminal Options".
─ Press A to select "Baud" rate.
─ Highlight the correct baud rate for your modem then <Enter>.
2400B Classic/2400EX: 2400
2400B MNP/2400EX MNP: 4800
9600EX: 38400
─ Select the "Data Bits" and "Stop Bits" to match the systems you
call most often. If it doubt, set "Data Bits" to 8 and "Stop
Bits" to 1.
─ Press B to set the port.
─ Highlight the "COM port" on which you installed your modem then
<Enter>.
─ Set flow control for your modem:

■ Set other options from the "Modem and Dialing" menu.
─ Press M to select the "Modem & Dialing" menu.
─ Press A to select "Init String".
─ Type: ATZ^M (delete any extra characters) then <Enter>.
─ <Enter>
■ Save changes and exit.
─ Press W to "Write and Save".
Now configure your modem. You only need to do this once.
■ Enter the correct command for your modem:
2400B Classic/2400EX: type AT&C1&D2&W <Enter>
2400B MNP/2400EX MNP: type AT&C1&D2\N3\J0\Q3\V1&W <Enter>
