QMODEM
SatisFAXtion/100:
Intel's lab tested this software (versions 3.1 & 5.x) with the
SatisFAXtion/100 board, and it is compatible.
SatisFAXtion/400:
Intel's lab tested this software (versions 4.2 & 5.x) with the
SatisFAXtion/400 board, and it is compatible.
Intel Modems:
This program is compatible with Intel modems.
Configuring the Program:
The first time you run Qmodem it automatically takes you to the "Setup
Menu". After the first time, use <ALT-N> to call up the "Setup Menu".
o Press M to select the Modem menu
o Press Q to select "Quick Modem Config"
- Highlight the Intel modem selection that best describes your
modem then press <ENTER>
Intel 9600EX V32 with V.42bis
For: 9600EX, 14.4EX, SatisFAXtion 400 & 400E
Intel 2400EX MNP
For: 2400 baud Intel modems
o A configuration screen will now ask:
- "Send these commands to the modem [Y/N]?"
- Select Y for yes
o Press C to select "Communications Parameters"
- Press A to select "Default baud rate"
- Highlight the baud rate for your modem then press <ENTER>

Intel SatisFAXtion 400/400E : 57600
Intel High Speed V.42bis modems : 38400 (or higher)
Intel 2400 V.42bis modems : 9600
Intel 2400B MNP modems : 4800
Intel non MNP modems : 2400
- Press J to select "Serial Port"
- Type the number of the COM port of your modem and press <ENTER>
- Press <ESCAPE>
o Press M to select "Modem Commands"
- Press I to select "Initialization Command"
- Type ATZ^M then press <ENTER>.
- Press <ESCAPE>
NOTE: QMODEM Comes with COM1 and COM2 defined, but COM3 and COM4 are
undefined. If you installed your modem on COM3 or COM4, use the
following commands to define the address and IRQ for COM3 or
COM4. If you installed your modem on COM1 or COM2, skip over
this section to the next.
o If you installed your modem on COM3 or COM4, press P to select
"Port Addresses" then follow these instructions:
- Highlight the "Base" address of your modem's COM port then
<ENTER>
- Type 0, your modem's 3 digit address (3E8 for COM3 or 2E8 for
COM4), then press <ENTER>
- Highlight the "IRQ" of your modem's COM port then <ENTER>
- Type your modem's IRQ number then <ENTER>
- Press <ESCAPE> twice
o Press H to select "Host" options menu.
- Press I to select "Init Command".
- Type ATZS0=1^M (delete any extra characters) then <ENTER>.
NOTE: For Intel faxmodems, the number following "S0=" should
match the number of rings you specified in the SatisFAXtion
SETUP program.
- Press A to select "Answer Command" then delete ATA^M and
leave the field blank.
- Press <ESCAPE>
o Press M to select "Modems"
- Press T to select "Toggles"
- Set the following option for your modem:
non-MNP MNP V.42bis

[XON/XOFF] Flow ctrl. ON OFF OFF
CTS/RTS signal OFF ON ON
RTS When writing OFF OFF OFF
Fifo during shell
Lock DTE baud rate ON ON ON
High speed Xmit ON ON ON
16550 UART enable [ ON if you have one ]
INIT ignores CD ON ON ON
- <ESCAPE> twice
o Press E to select "Exit"
- Press S to select "Save changes"
o Now configure your modem.
- In terminal mode, enter the correct command for your modem:
Intel V.42bis modems (1,2): AT&F&W <ENTER>
Intel 2400B MNP modems (3): AT&F\N3\Q3\J0&W <ENTER>
Intel non-MNP modems (4) : AT&F&C1&D2&W <ENTER>
That's all there is to it!
