  8. The following information shows you how to configure various communications
  9. programs for use with Intel modems.  Please note the meanings of the
  10. following symbols:  
  11.  
  12.     <Fx>     means "press the function key indicated by 'x'".
  13.     <Esc>    means "press the Esc key".
  14.     <Enter>  means "press the Enter key".
  15.     <Ctrl-X> means "hold down the Ctrl key, press the indicated alpha key   
  16.              (X in this example), then release the Ctrl key".
  17.     <Alt-X>  means "hold down the Alt key, press the indicated alpha key (X 
  18.              in this example), then release the Alt key".

  22.     NOTE:   This version supports only Software Flow Control (XON/XOFF). 
  23.             It will not take advantage of the Hardware Flow Control
  24.             (RTS/CTS) control built into the MNP class modems.

  26.     After entering Procomm, press any key to go directly to the Terminal
  27.     Mode.

  29.     ■   Set the port and baud rate from the  "Line Settings" menu.

  31.         ─   Select the "Port" on which you installed your modem.
  32.         ─   Select the "baud" rate for your modem:

  34.                 2400B MNP/2400EX MNP     4800

  37.     NOTE:   You will see each baud rate listed twice with different
  38.             communications parameters.  Select the parameters that best
  39.             match those of the systems you call.  If in doubt, select the
  40.             "N,8,1" parameters.

  44.     ■   Set other options from the "Setup Menu".
  45.         ─   <Alt-S>
  46.         ─   Press  1  then  <Enter>  to select "Modem Setup"
  47.         ─   Press  1  then  <Enter>  to select "Modem Init String".
  48.         ─   Type  ATZ  then  <Enter>.

  50.         ─   Press  2  then <Enter> to select "Terminal Options".
  51.         ─   Press  3  then <Enter>  to select "Flow Control".
  52.         ─   Press  <Space>  until "XON/XOFF" appears then  <Enter>.

  70.     The first time you run Qmodem, it automatically takes you to the "Setup
  71.     Menu".  After the first time, call up the "Setup Menu" using <Alt-N>.

  73.     ■   Set the baud rate and port from the "Modem" menu.
  74.         ─   Press  M  to select the "Modem" menu.
  75.         ─   Press  C  to select "Communications parameters".
  76.         ─   Press  A  to select "Default baud rate".
  77.         ─   Highlight the baud rate for your modem then  <Enter>.

  93.     NOTE:   QMODEM comes with COM1 and COM2 defined, but COM3 and COM4 are
  94.             undefined.  If you installed your modem on COM3 or COM4, use
  95.             the following commands to define the address and IRQ for COM3
  96.             or COM4.  If you installed your modem on COM1 or COM2, skip
  97.             over this section to the next ■ .

  99.     ■   If necessary, set the COM port "Base" address and "IRQ".
  100.         ─   Press  P  to select "Port Addresses".
  101.         ─   Highlight the "Base" address of your modem's COM port then 
  102.             <Enter>.
  103.         ─   Type  0  , your modem's 3-digit address (2E8 or 3E8), then 
  104.             <Enter>.
  105.         ─   Highlight the "IRQ" of your modem's COM port then  <Enter>
  106.         ─   Type your modem's IRQ number then  <Enter>.

  148.     This version supports only Software Flow Control (XON/XOFF).  It will
  149.     not take advantage of the Hardware Flow Control (RTS/CTS) control built
  150.     into the MNP class modems.  You must also include the "FILES" and
  151.     "BUFFERS" statements in your CONFIG.SYS file.

  153.     After entering Smartcom II, hit any key to go directly to the Terminal
  154.     Mode.

  157.         ─   Press  6  to select "Change Configuration".
  158.         ─   Select the port your modem is installed on.
