-*- DBLogScan v2.01b (c) 1993 Bill Crouch -*-
-*- Fidonet 1:352/999 Lacey, Wa. 98503 -*-
Welcome!
This program was written for the inquiring Sysop who would like
to know how many incoming calls he has had and at what speed they came
in at. It will also give you the percentage of 'Connects' per total
calls and then graph it for those who love graphics.
I wrote this program for my own information using TechnoJocks
Turbo Toolkit 5.0 and Borlands Turbo Pascal 7.0 after seeing one program
that read the nodelist and compiled the modem type flags.
▒▒▒ WARNING ▒▒▒
This program is for the D'BRIDGE mailing system log ONLY. It most likely
will now work if non-standard entries are in the Dbridge.log. Do not
attempt to read other logfiles with it (sort of hard since the default
name is Dbridge.log). If you do I disavow any knowledge of your actions
(sounds like Mission Impossible doesn't it? <G>).
Anyway, this program will track connects at 300,1200,2400,9600,14400 and
16800 baud. If modems get faster I guess I'll update it for that.
Also you do not have to enter a path as it will find your log on the
drive you entered, that is if you have DB in your path.
If you have registered this utility, you will have these options:
- to change the name of your DB log file.
- change the type of character used in making the modem speed graph.
- makes a text file called 'DBFREQ.LOG' which tracks the file
requests made to your system by date, time, requestee, node address
and file requested.
- program will make an ANSI file of the output screen for your BBS.
NOTE: If you have registered, your .key file must be in the same
directory as DBLS. Do not put it in D'Bridge's root directory
(DB doesn't like other .key files).

---Changes---
7 Mar 93 - Added 16,800 baud to program and cleaned up screen display.
24 Mar 93 - Corrected bug with scanning a DB log in 'Debug' format.
9 Apr 93 - Added an optional configuration section for 'Registered' owners.
21 May 93 - Shortened drive prompt to just the drive letter. Terminates
program differently to allow the usage of the 'Print Screen'
function in DOS.
2 Aug 93 - Corrected error in DBFREQ.LOG routine that did not read the
Binkley 'YOOHOO' correctly.
13 Aug 93 - Corrected ANSI file not writing to default directory.
{------------------------------------------------------------------------}
F'req MAGIC NAME of 'DBLS' for current version.

DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
differ on details -- some request registration while others
require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With
registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue
using the software to an updated program with printed manual.
Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software,
and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are
of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs
and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of
distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy
and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a
specific group. For example, some authors require written
permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their
Shareware.
Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You
should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes
fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.
And because the overhead is low, prices are low also. Shareware
has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the
product, you don't pay for it.

DISCLAIMER - AGREEMENT
Users of DB LogScan 2.01b must accept this disclaimer of warranty:
"DB LogScan 2.01b is supplied as is. The author disclaims all
warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation,
the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.
The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or
consequential, which may result from the use of DB LogScan 2.01."
DB LogScan 2.01b is a "shareware program" and is provided at no
charge to the user for evaluation, though a small fee is
permitted to cover copying and shipping charges. Feel free to
share it with your friends, but please do not give it away
altered or as part of another system. The essence of "user-
supported" software is to provide personal computer users with
quality software without high prices, and yet to provide
incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products.
If you find this program useful and find that you are using
DB LogScan 2.01b and continue to use it after a reasonable trial
period, you must make a registration payment of $5.00 to Bill
Crouch. The $5.00 registration fee will license one copy for
use on any one computer at any one time. You must treat this
software just like a book. An example is that this software may
be used by any number of people and may be freely moved from one
computer location to another, so long as there is no possibility
of it being used at one location while it's being used at
another, just as a book cannot be read by two different persons
at the same time. PLEASE NOTE: Copying and distribution fees
paid to a shareware distributor are NOT part of the registration
fee. Bill Crouch receives no part of the copying and
distribution fees paid to distributors. Those fees are to cover
the distributor's cost. (And allow them a small profit.)
You are encouraged to pass a copy of DB LogScan 2.01b along to your
friends for evaluation. Please encourage them to register their
copy if they find that they can use it. All registered users
may file request a copy of the latest version of DB LogScan by using
the magic name of 'DBLS' and also pick up their registration key by
polling my system.
You will also receive free support by e-mail if you have a
problem running the software. The free support will last for a
year after you register the program. This support is through
FidoNet, at 1:352/999, with netmail. If you write to the author,
Bill Crouch, please poll within 5 days for your reply.
You may also feel free to upload DB LogScan, in its original
archive, to bbs's, etc.
