CalCat!
By Bart Flentje
Release information:
Version 4.0ß
16AUG93
Version 4.0ß Major update!
Added an expanded swapper to the system that allows independent
swapping of 10 different locations that each have their own list
of up to 20 screens to swap from. Each location will have full
control including On/Off toggle, holidays, and sequencing.
Also added was an easy to use menuing system for all databases
including the CALCAT.INI file which is now incorperated into a
binary file versus text.
Graphic (RIP) support has been added. Everything is in place
and functioning at authors end, however, this option may be
sticky so please be patient. I am continually seaking advice
on how to operate this option. Graphic (RIP) is a registered
function only at this time.
Menu swapping as promised has been eliminated from the CalCat!
project and a complete full featured screen swapper with this
feature is near completion.
History of CalCat!
- Version 1.0 Started out just as a small rotation program with only
8 legal holidays. Included New Years Day, Christmas,
Valentine Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, Independence Day,
Halloween and Memorial Day.
- Version 1.1 Added a few extra holidays. At this point the program
was still only being used on my own BBS. Decided to
improve it and offer it as SHAREWARE.
- Version 1.2 This was a major restructure of the program. I added
11 more holidays, created a user document, and created
the program that configures the .CFG file. (CCFIG.EXE)
This version was the first SHAREWARE release.
- Version 1.3 No major changes. This was a bug fix version. When I
had finished with version 1.2, two lines of code got
switched in the source which was a fatal mistake. The
program aborted unless by CHANCE your two paths were
the same. All this was fixed and looks good.
- Version 1.4 No major changes. Rewrote the doc files and finished
beta testing on a Twin Cities BBS. All goes well.
- Version 1.5 Personal release.
- Version 1.6 Major restructure of holiday finding algorithm. The
old version proved to be not so reliable. Wrote a new
holiday finding algorithm that proved to 100% reliable
in thorough testing. Also, with new algorithm, it will
find a holiday regardless of the year. Added 12 more
holidays. On registered versions, a credits line that
is written on swapped screen has been eliminated. This
brought the first legal copyright of CalCat!.
- Version 1.7 This is exactly the same as version 1.6, however this
is for registered user who want to use ANSI instead of
Wildcat @ color codes. This was due to popular demand.
- Version 1.8 Added 25 more holidays. Total number of holidays to 62
and more to come.
- Version 1.9 This will be the ANSI version of version 1.8. Has not
been completed.
- Version 2.0 Added 40 holidays to bring the total to 102. In this
version, all holidays can be turned on or off. Also
added the option of adding holidays. They had to be
fixed holidays, varying holidays wouldn't work. Print
and listing utilities added for the first time.
- Version 2.1 This was a bug fix release.
- Version 2.2 This was a release with new expiration date.
- Version 2.3 Modified the screen output at runtime.
- Version 2.4 through 2.9 have been skipped.
- Version 3.0 Complete restructure of format including: Put all of
holiday data into a data file. Additional screens can
be swapped in randomly or sequentially on non-holiday
days. Created a new database utility to manage holiday
data. Added a new key system for easy registration.
Converted the .CFG file into a .INI style of file. The
listing routines were given a dramatic facelift.
- Version 3.1 Personal release.
- Version 3.2 Added feature allows the holiday screens to be stored
in archive form. Can now have up to three holiday
screens at once if there happens to be more than one
holiday on a given day.
- Version 3.3 Bug fix to version 3.2. The absence of a truncate routine
caused unwanted errors. Non-fatal.
- Version 3.4 Bug fix for that ever problem error 64.
- Version 3.5 Repaired a few known bugs, such as:
Did not check the syntax of target files so an error 64 may
have resulted if not careful.
When doing swap on non-holiday days with multiple targetfiles,
only one targetfile would be copied to.
When doing multiple swaps using random sequence, screens would
repeat if screens in .DAT were less than targetfiles.
- Version 3.6 Due to popular demand, the bell that rang on non-registered
versions was added to registered versions. Apparantly some
users like to hear there event going off in the middle of
the night.
- Version 3.7 This was a minor bug fix to version 3.6.
