About the Mexica

Montezuma II rules over a powerful and prosperous empire of warriors, farmers, and merchants. We live in hundreds of cities and towns throughout the Valley of Mexico. The largest city in the empire is the capital, Tenochtitlan, which has a population of more than 200,000. Few other cities of the world can boast of having so many inhabitants.

The Mexica came to the Valley of Mexico about 300 years ago. We were subjects of other people of this region before founding Tenochtitlan nearly 200 years ago. Emperor Montezuma I and his successors conquered many people to the east and south of Tenochtitlan. Now in this year of 13-Slate, Montezuma II rules an empire that stretches between the two great waters and from the volcanoes in the north to the rain forests in the south.
