All our merchants track their transactions using personalized seals made of steatite, a soft, easily carved stone that becomes hard after firing. These feature the picture of an animal, most commonly a one-horned creature, and identifying information in our written script. Merchants use these stone seals to stamp their mark on clay tokens or tabs attached to their wares for identification and security.
