Amiga.org's Official News Policy
Last Updated - 24 September, 1997

These are the rules for reporting news that we try to follow at Amiga.org.. The Amiga community is exactly that, a community. We all have to meet our goals while trying to get along. There are egos out there that seek to corner the market on Amiga News claiming it's "copywritten" or some other nonsense.

Since it's virtually impossible for one person or even a small team to collect ALL of the news, ALL of the time, we collect news stories from several sources and we always list the source of the article if at all possible.

News itself cannot be "copywritten". If it's posted and verifyable, it's fair game as long as you don't copy another's presentation verbatim. By using links whenever possible rather than creating our own newscopy, then giving appropriate credit, we hope to work with the Amiga community rather than against its' webmasters.

Any comments, feedback or press releases can be sent to;
Wayne@amiga.org

  1. Do not get involved in personal disputes. Personal disputes are not news.
  2. We must be able to verify it personally from at least two sources. "Dewey Defeats Truman" is not a role model we follow.
  3. If it can be traced to the original source, post their press release (with permission), not the secondary site.
  4. News is Public Domain. Once it's posted and verified, it's fair game as long as you don't copy another's page verbatim... Trying to "copyright" news stories is idiotic, ego-driven, and not centered for the benefit of the Amiga during this dark period in the Amiga's history..
  5. If you can't verify it, it doesn't exist.
  6. "If you eliminate the impossible, whatever is left, however improbable, must be the truth.." - Spock, Star Trek VI, scene 37.
