Title: Ungermann-Bass Support.
Many inquiries have come in regarding the method in which Ungermann-Bass
Net-One/Personal Connection is supported under NetWare. It is supported by
using the NETBIOS emulator available from Ungermann-Bass. Because the
NetWare/286 operating system purges memory when switching into protected
mode, the NETBIOS emulator is no longer resident in memory. For this reason,
Ungermann-Bass is not supported with the 286 operating system. It is however
supported with the 86 product with some minor limitations.
1. The operating system may NOT be cold booted from the hard disk. It must
be loaded from a floppy diskette.
2. The Ungermann-Bass NETBIOS emulator must be loaded on all servers and
workstations before bringing up the network. Once this is done the
operating system(s) and shells are loaded from a floppy in the ordinary
manner.
3. For Advanced NetWare version 2.0 select the driver option "IBM PC
Network." For version 2.0a, select the driver "GENBIOS" which means
generic NETBIOS. This driver option will run on any networking board that
provides a 5C NETBIOS emulator.
