*** WARNING *** DISK READ ERROR. CANCEL MOUNT?

Occurs on: 68, 86, and 286.

Meaning: This error is displayed if a disk read error occurs while
reading in the directory of a volume during volume mount while
bringing up a file server. Fixed volumes are always mounted
automatically on system boot. Two copies of all directories
are kept on each system volume. If a read failure occurs on
one copy, the server will automatically retry the read using
the secondary (mirrored) directory. This error message will
display only if a directory sector read failed on both
directory copies. This is not a fatal error.

Cause: This message might occur if the server was halted suddenly by a
hardware or power failure or by bringing down the network
        without the DOWN command.

Solution: The user may choose to cancel mounting of this volume (which
would bring up the server running without the volume) or he
may choose to allow the volume to continue mounting. In the
latter case the server will continue as if the directory
sector had contained no active file entries. This is not a
fatal error, but it does signal significant problems in the
directory area, and will probably be accompanied with many
other error messages. The system manager should run VREPAIR
on the volume to repair the bad sector before allowing the
           file server to be accessed.
