Verde oliva por arriba y amarillo brillante por abajo, con llamativo patrón en amarillo y negro en la cara. Tamaño: 13 cm.; peso: 13-14 g. Audio 2 (M. Oberle). Anida en los bosques deciduos húmedos del este de los Estados Unidos, invernando de México al noroeste de Venezuela. En Puerto Rico, una especie rara en el invierno en la maleza espesa de los bosques costeros, secos y húmedos (por ejemplo, avistamientos el 9 de marzo de 1992, en el Bosque Estatal de Maricao; el 30 de octubre de 1998 en el Barrio Dominguito de Arecibo; 21 de octubre de 2000 en Ciales).
