: UPS strikers have brought the largest courier company in the world to its knees and won all their major demands + pay rise. All workers are going back to work today.

: What a fantastic example of workers power if they are united. Hope this success will set the trend amongst all workers who are unhappy with their conditions of work but have felt powerless to take action.

Noooo...they are not ALL going back. You see... the strike hurt business and there is not enough work to go around at present. Are you also aware that at the rate UPS was growing, pre-strike, they would have hired approximately 13,300 workers instead of the 10,000 they negotiated for?
Does that sound like successful negotiation to you? Also, has the union levelled with employees about the extent of the benefits they LOST while on strike? Will the pension increase make up for that? And how much business will UPS have lost for a significant amount of time, if not for good. People don't like to do business with companies where there is the possiblity of a strike. It's bad business for THEM! Are you also aware that the majority of UPS workers WANTED to only be part-timers? Homemakers, students etc. were quite happy with this arrangement. I believe the stats were fully 75% of the part timers fell under this catagory. Unions have long outlived their usefulness. Just like the feminist movement and Jesse Jackson!
