: HAH! Is this funny! I'm a STAY AT HOME MOM!! Funny how anyone who sticks up for corporate America is assumed to be upper level mgmt.

My last posting could be seen as an ad hominem statement but with the zeal of your postings a talent scout for some rightwing think tank might just spot you and you might get a job ,which is indeed a promotion.

:secretly accessing this site from their corner office. 'Tis to laugh! I do this stuff to give the ol' brain cells a work out.

OK...I'll provide some brainfood for you.

:To answer your questions.....#1 I simply believe they do more harm than good. They get in the way of a free marketplace of which I am an unapologetic believer. When unions were born, it was because people worked in OBVIOUSLY dangerous, unsanitary, etc. conditions. In short, workers were being taken advantage of. I don't think that's the case today.

How long has it been since you were in the work force? there's plenty of people working dangerous jobs and the regulations regarding health and safety are being curtailed nowadays.

:By and large most companies, and I certainly think UPS, treat their employees more than fairly.

I don't think so and if you want to see their side of the story you should check out their strike page.Actually, what would be better is if you went out and talked to some of those people. I doubt that they are hard to find.

:And often employees know exactly what the situation is when they get hired on.

And oftentimes they don't. With the destruction of laws regulating
the rights of workers there will be many more situations in which employees do not know what they're getting into.

I put it to you that if unions were a real necessity, if a majority of workers really felt abused, the membership would not be dropping as it has in the decade.

There's a number of reasons behind that and I would like you to read through the link I'm providing and to meditate on what's being conveyed in it.If you can come back with a critique to refute it and provide evidence then you've got a debate on your hands.

: And regarding Jesse....I don't think he speaks for anyone anymore. He just wants to keep himself in the limelight. That's all I'm going to say without going off into some other stuff that has no relevance to this board.

Then why did you mention Jesse Jackson in the first place? I thought you might have been able to elaborate on this further.
