In response to the claim that humans are natural carnivores, the fact is that humans evolved from primateal ancestors who were exclusively vegetarian. Humans still retain physical features such as flat nails, long convoluting intestines, and an appendix, all characteristics of an animal which was intended to eat mainly plant matter. If they were intended to eat meat, why wouldn't they have sharp nails and incisors like other carnivores ? Humans are unable to digest large quantities of meat raw, like genuine carnivores, but must extensively cook and prepare meat in order to consume it. Also, they are generally unable to live on meat alone for longer than 3 months, which is about the amount of time that an animal like a horse can live off meat. Meat-eating humans are proven to be less fit and long-lived than their vegetarian counterparts, suffering 4 times as much kidney disease, twice the amount of cardiovascular disease, and so on.

Also in regard to "environmental balance", (i.e if humans ate only plants this would be threatening the existence of plants) this is a load of utter crap. Cows raised in feedlots eat 21 their body weight in grain anyway, before being slaughtered. If you took a look outside you would see that it is not lentils or soybean plantations which are taking over the world, but cattle ranches and feedlots.

And anyway, vegans don't eat caesar's salad -its got bacon in it.
