An open letter to McSpotlight re. Cap. + Alt.

Dear McSpotlight,

it is time to close down æCapitalism and AlternativesÆ.

Of all the McSpotlight discussion groups, this would appear to be the most pointless, because discussing political theory is pointless.

After all, in other fields of human endeavour, a discussion will usually lead to a conclusion of some sort.

In Science, when someone puts forward a hypothesis, others discuss it; do experiments etc., and eventually it is proven valid or invalid.

In Art, a painter creates a body of work and it is, over time, discussed by art critics and the public. Eventually the painter either becomes famous, or fades into obscurity.

In Music, a pianist either can, or cannot play the piano. In Engineering, a design for a bridge either gets a reputation for staying up, or falling down, etc.

Indeed, in the other McSpotlight discussion groups, much is said that is of great value.

But discussing alternatives to Capitalism is like discussing alternatives to Gravity.
Yes: in some ways it would be nice if we could get rid of it, but ultimately it is all just wishful thinking.

Capitalism in practice is basically a meritocracy. The smartest/strongest/most creative usually come out on top, the rest usually fall by the wayside.

So stop wearing out the disk drives on the McSpotlight web server with all this aimless ranting and raving, and turn the discussion over to a subject thatÆs worth talking about.

Yours Sincerely,

Rocky
