APDL Turbo processor upgrade

This is primarily a part exchange processor upgrade for any Strong ARM RiscPC, although we can also supply new Revision T Turbo processors with or without part-exchange. It has a boosted clock rate and other modifications to increase speed. This method of improving performance has been widely used by enthusiasts, and the Turbo 287 can give a speed increase of between 15 and 30 percent depending on the type of program being run.

Most users are naturally apprehensive about carrying out this type of work. There is the possibility that the processor could be damaged as not all will work reliably at high speed, leaving you with a dead computer and a bill for about £250 for a new Strong ARM.

The APDL Turbo upgrade removes the risk of running a fast processor. Your Turbo processor upgrade is fully guaranteed for one year so we carry the risk. In addition if you need to have your computer repaired during this time and want to ensure that it has a standard processor while repairs are carried out we will arrange to lend you a standard Strong ARM processor for a short period for only a very small charge to cover expenses.

We can usually arrange to send you your new Turbo Processor and then, once you have fitted it and made sure that everything is working properly, you return your old Strong ARM to us. This means you aren't without your computer while your processor is upgraded.
