  3.  A Cruise of the Internet
  4.  Version 2.0 for IBM-DOS and DOS compatibles running Windows
  5.  March 20, 1993

  7.  WHAT IS IT?
  8.  Merit's "Cruise of the Internet" is a computer-based tutorial for new
  9.  as well as experienced Internet "navigators."  The Cruise will introduce
  10.  you to Internet resources as diverse as supercomputing, minorities,
  11.  multimedia, and even cooking. It will also provide information about the
  12.  tools needed to access those resources.
  13.  
  14.  SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
  15.  This tutorial will run on any IBM-DOS or DOS-compatible computer which
  16.  is equipped to display 256 colors at an aspect ratio of 640 x 480. To
  17.  run the Cruise tutorial you will need:
  18.  
  19.     - An IBM-DOS or DOS-compatible computer 
  20.     - XGA- or XGA-compatible adapter set to display 256 colors at 640 x 480
  21.     - Microsoft Windows(TM) version 3.1 running in enhanced mode
  22.     - Approximately 1.5 MB of disk space
  23.     - 2 MB RAM minimum
  24.  
  25.  HOW TO INSTALL IT:
  26.  The following directions will install the Cruise in the WINDOWS directory
  27.  on your C: drive and as an icon in the Applications Window.
  28.  
  29.  1. Copy MERITCRZ.EXE to your C:\WINDOWS directory.
  30.  2. Start Windows in enhanced mode by typing "WIN /3" at the DOS-prompt.
  31.     The cruise requires that Windows be running in Enhanced mode instead
  32.     of Standard mode or Real mode.
  33.  3. Open the Applications window.
  34.  4. Click on the File option in the Program Manager window.
  35.  5. Click on New.
  36.  6. In the New Program Object window, click the Program Item
  37.     button, and then on OK.
  38.  7. In the Program Item Properties window, fill in the boxes as follows:
  39.          Description:         Merit's Cruise 2.0
  40.          Command Line:        meritcrz
  41.          Working Directory:   c:\windows
  42.     and then click on OK.
  43.  8. A movie projector icon with the label "Merit's Cruise 2.0" should
  44.     appear in the Applications window.  To run the Cruise, double-click
  45.     on the icon.

  47.  DISTRIBUTION:
  48.  You may copy and distribute the Cruise without charge. You must
  49.  include the MERITCRZ.TXT file with the Cruise and you may not charge
  50.  any fees for the distribution of the Cruise.

  52.  A version of the cruise for Apple Macintosh II, LC, and Quadra computers
  53.  is also available for Anonymous FTP from nic.merit.edu in the
  54.  /internet/resources/cruise.mac directory.
