  5.        Once it smiled a silent dell
  6.        Where the people did not dwell;
  7.        They had gone unto the wars,
  8.        Trusting to the mild-eyed stars,
  9.        Nightly, from their azure towers,
  10.        To keep watch above the flowers,
  11.        In the midst of which all day
  12.        The red sunlight lazily lay.
  13.        Now each visitor shall confess
  14.        The sad valley's restlessness.
  15.        Nothing there is motionless-
  16.        Nothing save the airs that brood
  17.        Over the magic solitude.
  18.        Ah, by no wind are stirred those trees
  19.        That palpitate like the chill seas
  20.        Around the misty Hebrides!
  21.        Ah, by no wind those clouds are driven
  22.        That rustle through the unquiet Heaven
  23.        Uneasily, from morn till even,
  24.        Over the violets there that lie
  25.        In myriad types of the human eye-
  26.        Over the lilies there that wave
  27.        And weep above a nameless grave!
  28.        They wave:- from out their fragrant tops
  29.        Eternal dews come down in drops.
