  6.       Romance, who loves to nod and sing,
  7.       With drowsy head and folded wing,
  8.       Among the green leaves as they shake
  9.       Far down within some shadowy lake,
  10.       To me a painted paroquet
  11.       Hath been- a most familiar bird-
  12.       Taught me my alphabet to say-
  13.       To lisp my very earliest word
  14.       While in the wild wood I did lie,
  15.       A child- with a most knowing eye.

  17.       Of late, eternal Condor years
  18.       So shake the very Heaven on high
  19.       With tumult as they thunder by,
  20.       I have no time for idle cares
  21.       Through gazing on the unquiet sky.
  22.       And when an hour with calmer wings
  23.       Its down upon my spirit flings-
  24.       That little time with lyre and rhyme
  25.       To while away- forbidden things!
  26.       My heart would feel to be a crime
  27.       Unless it trembled with the strings.
