  5.    Version 6.0c has entered beta testing
  6.   
  7.    WordPerfect 6.0c for DOS entered beta testing last week and offers DOS
  8.   users enhanced SoftSolutions 4.0a integration, fax dial-out instructions, greater
  9.   file conversion capabilities, and more macro system variables.  The interim
  10.   release is faster, uses less RAM, and graphic image display can be turned off
  11.   for even quicker screen redraw. In addition, a number of user-identified
  12.   problems have been fixed.

  14.    Enhancements Explained

  16.                              ·  Enhanced SoftSolutions 4.0a integration -Working with
  17.         SoftSolutions is faster in 6.0c because communication with
  18.         SoftSolutions is handled through executable commands which are part
  19.         of WP.EXE.  By eliminating the macros, WordPerfect 6.0c frees up an
  20.         additional 25-30k of conventional memory, and users no longer have
  21.         to wait for the large macro to execute. WordPerfect users will also feel
  22.         more comfortable now that SoftSolutions uses standard WordPerfect
  23.         dialog boxes.

  25.                              ·  Fax dial-out instructions -You can set up eight different Dial-out
  26.         Instruction entries that automatically add prefixes and suffixes to phone
  27.         numbers in the fax phone book.  For example, if you have the number
  28.         of a customer in New York City listed in your phone book as (212)
  29.         555-5555, the Dial-out Instruction Entry to fax from the Novell Orem
  30.         offices,  automatically adds the prefix  of "9."  You can also have
  31.         entries for sending faxes from home or a hotel room.  You can even
  32.         include information about calling cards, etc. to help automate the
  33.         fax-sending process.

  35.                              ·  Greater File Conversion Capabilities -Converting files to
  36.         WPDOS 6.0c is a snap.  You now have the same file conversion
  37.         capabilities found in WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows, including
  38.         conversion for MS Word 6.0 for Windows.

  40.                              ·  Printed Pages System Variables -The printed pages system
  41.         variables allow a user to determine the number of pages printed in the
  42.         last print job, as well as the total number of pages printed during a
  43.         word processing session. This feature is especially valuable to
  44.         businesses which need to bill their customers based on the number of
  45.         pages printed.  Without the printed pages variable, a worker would
  46.         have to manually keep track of the number of pages printed for each
  47.         customer.  Now the printed pages variable will automatically create
  48.         their billing information and save them time and money.

  50.                              ·  Memory/Speed -WordPerfect 6.0c frees up some additional
  51.         conventional memory, allowing overall program speed to increase.

  53.                              ·  Graphic Image Display -Once you have the graphic image in your
  54.         document you can "turn off" the display of that image.  This can save
  55.         time as you move graphics around and navigate the pages of the
  56.         document without the screen having to be redraw after every change.

  58.                              ·  Fixes -A number of fixes have been made in WordPerfect 6.0c that
  59.         greatly increase the program's usability, as well as improve document
  60.         and graphic file conversions.

  62.                              ·  PIN -In response to the top user enhancement request, WordPerfect
  63.         6.0c provides a place to store PIN in the WordPerfect Information
  64.         screen.
