Text to Basic Converter
Copyright(c) 1994 by Eldon Martin
May be distributed on a non-commercial basis
TXT2BAS is a handy utility for converting text files to
programming code. Although it was written with QuickBASIC in mind,
it can be used to generate code in almost any programming language.
Unlike most converters, TXT2BAS does not support command line
parameters, but rather uses a user-friendly interface that allows
the user to enter the data the program needs to perform its magic.
TXT2BAS is copyrighted software but may be copied and distributed
under the following guidelines:
- All files must be distributed as a unit, with no files added or
taken away. The files in this package include: TXT2BAS.EXE,
TXT2BAS.DOC and CATALOG.EXE.
- No fee may be charged for the software. Shipping and handling
charges may be applied by shareware distributors as long as they do
not exceed $6. BBSs and online services are free to distribute the
software as well.
This software is provided on an "as is" basis. I have tested it
on my computer but it may not run properly on yours. I cannot be
held resposible for any problems it causes you.
When you run TXT2BAS, a box will pop up on the screen with four
fields for data input. You must give TXT2BAS the name of the text
file to be converted and the name of the program to be output. You
also have the chance to enter the line prefix and suffix. When
TXT2BAS loads a line of the text file, it adds the line prefix to
the beginning of the string and adds the suffix to the end. The
resulting string is then written to the output file. When TXT2BAS
starts up, the prefix and suffix are set so the resulting BASIC
program will print the text file on the screen.
If you're a QuickBASIC programmer, watch for newer versions of
TXT2BAS to arrive. In the near future I plan to modify TXT2BAS so it
can generate self-listing text files as well - ready to compile with
QB!
