  6. XPRT formats text for output to the HP LaserJet Family, and compatible

  42. 1.  Graybar toggle - Provides shading of alternating lines of text to
  43.     help delineate lines of source code.

  45. 2.  Smart word wrap - Will wrap at a whitespace if possible. Maintains
  46.     text indentation (source code structure).

  48. 3.  Port Selection - Allow selection of LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, or a
  49.     file for output. If file is chosen, it can later be typed or copied
  50.     to the printer.

  52. 4.  Miniature Type - Allows combining subscript, superscript, and
  53.     compressed print. This lets you cram lots more on a page.

  55. 5.  Menu or Command Line - Command line operation allows XPRT to be
  56.     called from another program for hands-off operation.

  58. 6.  Page headings: 1. Includes file name, date, and page number.
  59.                    2. Also provides the FILE date and time.
  60.                    3. Page numbers only.
  61.     Page headings may also be turned off.

  63. 7.  The current configuration of XPRT may be saved as the default.
  64.     Selecting 'S' from the menu establishes new default settings.

  70.     For use on a Local Area Network... if XPRT.EXE is write-protected
  71.     for any reason, XPRT.CFG will be created in the current directory.
  72.     When XPRT starts, it will attempt to open XPRT.CFG for default
  73.     setup information. If the .CFG file cannot be opened, XRPT will
  74.     use it's internal setup data.
  75.  
  76.     If XPRT.EXE is not write-protected, the setup data will be saved 
  77.     to the executable file. XPRT.CFG will not be created.

  82. 8.  If the resulting printout is 10 pages or more, XPRT will beep
  83.     upon completion. This is to prevent you from having to watch
  84.     the monitor for long periods of time.

  88. 10. Once registered, one need only download later versions to upgrade.
  89.     There is no charge for upgrades unless mailing a disk is required.

  103. 16. Limited Epson (dot matrix) printer compatibility. No line shading,
  104.     landscape orientation, or A4 paper support.

  106. XPRT will check for a printer connected to the port if an LPT is 
  107. selected. It cannot, however, determine it the printer is LaserJet
  108. compatible. It must assume that the operator knows. This is
  109. unavoidable as the LaserJet provides no means of identification
  110. via software.

  112. If you experience problems viewing XPRT with a monochrome monitor,
  113. set an environment variable MONITOR equal to MONO in your autoexec.bat
  114. file.
  115.    i.e.    set MONITOR=MONO
  116.  
  117. Command line switches can all be jammed together or separated by 
  118. whitespace.
  119.  
  120.   Syntax: XPRT [filename] [switches]

  122.    Where: filename = Name of text file to be printed, path included.
  123.           switches = Optional formatting switches (see below).

  128.   B    = Elite print (if supported.)
  129.   C    = Pica print.
  130.   D    = Miniature print.
  131.   Gnnn = Shade alternating lines of text.

  164.          If n is 4 - Print to LPT4

  166.   Tnn  = Expand tabs to nn spaces. Max is 25.
  167.   Unn  = Number of copies to print where nn is 1-99.
  168.   W0   = Landscape (letter size.)
  169.   W1   = Landscape (legal size.)
  170.   W2   = Landscape (a4 size.)
  171.   W3   = Portrait  (letter size.)
  172.   W4   = Portrait  (legal size.)
  173.   W5   = Portrait  (a4 size.)
  174.   Y    = Ignore embedded formfeed character.
  175.   Z    = Respond to embedded formfeed character.

  198. XPRT /i  Toggle 'Fast Exit'. This will allow registered copies of XPRT
  199.          to exit immediately, instead of returning to the menu.

  201. XPRT /x  Setup printer only. Do not reset upon exit.

  203. XPRT /?  will display a list of command line switches for batch mode.
  204.  
  205. XPRT [filename] will bring up the XPRT options menu.

  207. XPRT [filename] [switches] will go directly to printing.

  209. Initial Defaults: Pica, Portrait, Embedded formfeed on, Gray Bar Off,
  210.                   Page Header One, Indent 5, Print All Pages, LPI 6,
  211.                   Port LPT1, 4 Spaces/Tab, 1 Copy, line numbers off.

  213. Distribution - XPRT may be freely distributed via BBS, CD, Internet,
  214.                Pony Express, etc. The only charges allowed are those
  215.                to cover distribution expenses.
