Welcome to timEd v1.01!
Only 6 months after timEd v1.00 was released (april 1994), Artware is proud
to present timEd v1.01 with a lot of new and exciting features.
The basis was timEd v1.00, a reliable and fast message editor for FidoNet
<tm>, supporting JAM, Squish, Hudson and *.MSG message bases.
Added to this basis are many useful functions like a new advanced search
function, arealist sorting, arealist filters, crossposting, an on-screen
clock display and many other things.
However, TimEd is still a fast no-nonsense editor, giving you speed and
reliablity as it's major 'features'!
Upgrading from v1.00
--------------------
This is easy: copy the new .EXE files and the new helpfile to your timEd
directory, and carefully read whatsnew.101. All changes and additions are
mentioned in the whatsnew file, so you can make changes to your timEd.cfg
file while you are reading through it.
If a new feature is unclear to you, take a look at the updated
documentation (contained in timEd.prn) for a full explanation!
New users
---------
The easiest way to start with timEd is to copy all the files from the timEd
package to a new directory and edit timEd.cfg to your liking. TimEd.cfg is
a sample configuration file included in the timEd package. It does not
contain _all_ keywords you can enter in a config file, but enough to get
you going for some testing. This is an easy way to test timEd!
Later, take a look at advanced.cfg, which is a sample config file that
shows ALL keywords that can be used. You can then finetune those tiny
details to make timEd work exactly the way you want it to!
Printing out timEd.prn and reading it carefully will increase your
understanding of the program, so you can make use of everything it has to
offer.
Have fun!
