  9. INTRODUCTION:

  11. This is the a new release of PMsndX.  Extensive online
  12. help is provided from the main control panel.  To read the
  13. help, pull down the system menu in the upper left corner
  14. of the PMsndX control panel and select HELP.  This provides a
  15. description of the form and function.

  41. INSTALLATION PROGRAM:
  42.  
  43. Starting with version 1.36, PMsndX includes a very simple
  44. installation program which copies the executable and appropriate
  45. help file to the destination directories.  The program lets
  46. the user select the paths that are in the PATH and HELP
  47. variables.
  48.  
  49. As this is the first release of the Instalation program, it
  50. does not have the capability to create a WPS object on the
  51. desktop yet.  That will be added in a future revision.
  52.

  54. MANUAL INSTALLATION:
  55.  
  56. If the installation script does not work on your system,
  57. you may manually install PMsndX on your system with the
  58. following instructions.
  59.  
  60. Installation of PMsndX is very simple.  You must place
  61. the executable in a directory that is referenced in your
  62. PATH statement in your config.sys.  If this is not done,
  63. PMsndX will not be able to play samples from the command
  64. line.  You must then place the help file in a directory
  65. in your HELP path or in the same directory as the
  66. executable program.  That is it.
  67.  
  68. Look at your config.sys file with an editor like E.EXE
  69. and locate the statement that looks like this:
  70.  
  71. SET PATH=E:\OS2;E:\OS2\SYSTEM;E:\OS2\INSTALL;E:\;E:\OS2\MDOS;E:\OS2\APPS;
  72.  
  73. Choose something like \os2\apps and copy the file pmsndx.exe
  74. to that directory.
  75.  
  76. There are two help files included in the compressed .zip file.
  77. They are identical in content except that the larger one
  78. contains bitmap examples of the user interface in the text.
  79. The smaller file (smallhlp.hlp) does not contain the bitmaps
  80. and is about one-third the size of the larger file.  The
  81. smaller file is provided for people who are concerned about
  82. disk space.  Whichever file is not used can be deleted.  To
  83. use the smaller help file, rename smallhlp.hlp to pmsndx.hlp.

  97. There is a known problem with PMsndX and MMPM/2 version 3.0.
  98. When running PMsndX under Warp, anything which interrupts the
  99. playback of a sample (such as a system sound or pressing Pause)
  100. will cause PMsndX to hang the next time playback is requested.
  101. A future release of MMPM/2 will correct this problem.  To
  102. minimize the effect, I have provided the option to have
  103. PMsndX open the Audio device without sharing (the default).
  104. This problem does not appear to affect PMsndX on previous versions
  105. of OS/2 (i.e. 2.0, 2.1 and 2.11).
