Optic is a ray tracing program for modeling optical systems of lenses
and mirrors. There is no guarantee that the results of this program are
correct. In fact, there most likely are bugs. So use it at your own
risk.
You may only obtain this program for free. It may not be distributed
for any charge or as part of any package.
This is alpha release version 0.2. This program requires at least a
80386 processor and Microsoft Windows. A numeric coprocessor is
recommended but not required.
To install the program make a new directory somewhere on your disk and
unzip the file OPTIC02.ZIP in that directory. Use the New item in the
File menu in the Windows Program Manager to add the icon for the optic
program to a folder.
The zip file contains:
optic.exe : the program
optic.hlp : the help file
material.dat : the materials database file
readme.txt : this file
example*.opt : example files
If windows can't find the help file on your path then either add the
optic directory to your path or put optic.hlp in your windows directory.
Optic expects to find the file materials.dat somewhere in the current
working directory.
There will not be any new versions of optic. I'm about to start
a new job so I won't be able to add new features to optic. Nevertheless, I
might be able to fix simple bugs so send any comments or bug reports to:
