  9.  AB    In this study we correlated the isotype and specificity of the IgG
  10.        antibody response from 100 Puerto Rican HIV-infected patients with the
  11.        treatment which they were given. Western Blots have been performed to
  12.        determine the isotype as well as protein specificity of antibodies
  13.        contained in the patient's serum. Clinical data like sex, age, rate of
  14.        infection, stage according to the classification of CDC, number of T-CD4
  15.        cells, antiviral treatment and treatment against opportunistic infection
  16.        were collected from patient's records that were treated in P.R. Concra.
  17.        The detection of isotypes by Western Blots allowed an evaluation of the
  18.        host response to specific viral proteins and the effect of drug therapy
  19.        in the humoral response. The results of this work would be a useful tool
  20.        for finding of the best treatment against the infection by HIV-1. The
  21.        treatment which increases the reactivity of isotypes like IgG1, and IgG3
  22.        which have an important role in defense as neutralizing antibodies and
  23.        anti-HIV ADCC, have been determined.
