This is the first full issue of WindoWatch. We hope you find it as
interesting and fun to read as I did putting it together. WindoWatch
represents the work of the many people who contributed their time
and expertise to create a professional publication. We hope you find
an approach not ordinarily found in traditional hard copy or
electronic magazines.
This time we used Adobe's Acrobat v.2 as our Windows authoring tool. The
viewer, Acroread.Exe can be found on Channel One (617-354-3230) in the
visitors conference- Our magazine is called WWWIN#01.ZIP-JOIN FREE to download. It IS a large file!
These are *.pdf files and are of quite an acceptable in size. I would
appreciate your comments after looking at this issue and comparing the
result to the Preview issue authored in WordPerfect's Envoy.(WWPRVWIN.ZIP)
I made a late editorial decision and decided, with Tom Kinnaly's help to
put together an Envoy version of WW to make sure as many of you would be
able to see it. It is called WWWIN01E.ZIP.The tools are evolving very rapidly
and you will see us sacrifice perfection in order to try, and use, and then
report to our readers the explosion in authoring tools.
A note about copy size. Play with the viewer buttons and icons to
achieve the proper reading size for you. I found 125% the same
magnification as when actually working with Word for Windows. Also you
might want to use the thumbnails for easier navigation through the
various article. Some embedded objects simply didn't reproduce well
or at all. The magazine is "read only" but the various articles may be
printed with the usual reminder that this is proprietary work and the
property of the various authors and WindoWatch. Those of you needing
parts for classroom work let me know and we can provide some guidance.
For users preferring ReadRoom, this DOS format(*.toc) can be found in
DOOR 48 or as a free download from Conference 5 or JOIN FREE. WWDOS#01.ZIP
I'm not stating anything very original when I say that the future of
publications will be on-line and on the Internet. The venders and
developers who have provided us with many thousands of dollars worth
of evaluation software and hardware, consider us to be pioneers. They
seem to understand that writers must be protected from the pressures
of advertisers and appear to like what we're about. I thank them for
their cooperation.
Should you choose to support our effort a check for $10 will give you
an annual subscription of ten issues and electronic delivery of the
ascii edition. Your correct email address and check can be sent

I look forward to your comments.
