SysPage: Super Sysop Paging Utility
Table Of Contents:
1) Functionality / Description
2) Setup
3) Unregistered Restrictions
1) Functionality:
Basically, this is a Sysop Paging replacement module. It has some pretty
cool functionality. It will allow you to set a START and END time that the
sysop will allow pages. If it is during a time that the sysop does not allow
pages, the sysop can set up an emergency password that a user must know so
that the user might page. It also allows you to set up a list of Paging
Abusers so that if an abuser tries to page the sysop, a sysop defined display
screen will be displayed to that user and that user will be dropped out of
the application. It will also ask as to the reason why the user is paging the
sysop and that will be displayed on the screen so that the sysop can use that
to determine if the sysop wants to answer the page.
Pretty neat, huh?
2) Setup:
You must create a file called SYSPAGE.INI in the current directory (The
Wildcat Home Directory). All of the WILDPACK applications MUST be run from
your Wildcat Home Directory. A sample will be included, but unless you are a
registered sysop, the SYSPAGE.INI will not be used. However, even if you are
an unregistered sysop, the INI file MUST EXIST.
Here is an example of the SYSPAGE.INI:
STARTTIME = 0600
ENDTIME = 2200
PASSWORD = TVS
ABUSERFILE = ABUSER.TXT
ABUSERDISP = DILDO
Here is what it all means:
STARTTIME = Time to begin allowing pages
ENDTIME = Time to end allowing pages
PASSWORD = Emergency override password
ABUSERFILE = File that lists abusers
ABUSERDISP = File to display to abuser (filename WITHOUT extension!)
*Notice: The INI file must be formatted in that order, otherwise the
application will not work. Both STARTTIME and ENDTIME must be in 24
hour format. The ABUSERFILE MUST reside in the Wildcat Home
Directory. The ABUSERDISP must reside (and exist) in the DISP
directory under the Wildcat Home Directory. You MUST NOT specify an
extension as the application will choose the correct on depending on
the users current display mode.
If a user pages outside of the allowed time, the user will be prompted
to leave a comment, otherwise must know the password. Then the user will be
asked the reason. At that time, the sysop is paged. Very easy to use and
setup.
3) Unregistered Restrictions:
If this application is unregistered, there is no restriction to the time
a user can page (ie, users can page 24 hours a day). Also, you will not be
able to set up a file that lists abusers nor a file to display to an abuser.
Although you cannot use this fucntionality, the INI file MUST still be
formatted correctly.
So you should register this puppy. Fully functional, it's pretty cool.
