~Novastorm
Part Solution by Adriano Grisanti.
If you want to complete this great shoot'em up and are having
trouble doing so, simply follow the step by step guide below, to
improve your chances :-
~LEVEL 1 : VOLCANIC WORLD LEVEL 1.1
~----------------------------------
After you have been launched from the space station, you will fly
over the bubbling surface of this volcanic planet at high speed.
You will then be greeted by wave after wave of enemy attack
fighters, which constantly fire at you, but their fire takes a
couple of seconds to reach you so there's plenty of time to avoid
them, by weaving in and out of the way of fire.
This first level is pretty straightforward, like all shoot'em ups
the first level is designed to break you in to the syle of game
play, and is usually easy to complete. However if you use the
corners of the screen for dodging enemy fire, you will find this is
a good tatic, as the enemy fire seems to concentate on the centre of
the screen. You will then soon become accustomed to the different
types of formation the enemy uses, making it easy to predict where
to shoot. Often you'll be able to pick a single point on the sceen
where a whole enemy formation passes. Firing at this fixed point
means destroying nearly all the fleet into oblivation. After
fighting in the freedom of the air you plummet into a gully in the
volcanic ground. Don't touch the edges of this gully as you risk
collision & the loss of a life. Luckily, the gully walls aren't
that close on this early level & so there is still plenty of room to
manoeuvre. Staying in a central position is best here, because many
of the fighters appear below you & go to the middle of the gully, so
if your ready then there easy targets to take out. After a bit the
whole landscape begins to spin around you because you are entering
another phase. As the land spins, it is best to position your self
in the centre as much as possible, because you can be caught out by
the wall or ceiling, resulting in certain death. Its a dark world,
and you will find it very hard to see whats going on around you, so
concertration is must in order to survive. Finally when you have
completed this section, a new perspective enters the gameplay. By
this I mean there is a ceiling above you, while lasers come
diagonally across the screen. The fighters still doge yor every
move, so you must duck under a large bridge, avoiding the pillars
supporting it. As the bridge is fairly large, it is a fairly
staightforward task to go under it, while at the same time dogging
the pilars.
~END OF LEVEL GUARDIAN
~---------------------
As usual at the end of every level, there is some sort of guardian,
which needs destroying, in order to progress any further. The
first end of level gurdian is a huge metal orb with spiked balls
sticking out of its main frame. Panels on this orb rise revealing
an orange glowing core, which you guessed it, is your target. Use
your super gun on this target, to take it out easily, only requiring
a few hits. Make sure you don't hange around to much, as the longer
you take to destroy the target, then the tougher the action gets.
An action warning system flashes to warn you the action is going to
get hot, as some minor lasor fire, then hurls those spiked balls at
your ship. Hopefully you can finish it off before the action gets
to frentic.
~LEVEL 1 : VOLCANIC WORLD LEVEL 1.2
~----------------------------------
After the first 30 seconds of action fighting in mid-air, you're
thrown once more into a gully, which is tighter than the last one,
leaving no room for error. As soon as your into the trench, pull up
as the obstruction barring the gully kills you, should you stay low
watch out for the fire that burns the ground. Three bonus boxes
pop up staight away. By hitting one of these boxes, you may
increase your ? power, giving yourself three bars instead of one
every time you ?. Your quest for survival continues.......
So will this in a future issue of Cheet Sheets.
