~First Encounters
Help with combat, strategy? Mixed opinions obtained via Internet.
~If you want to fight...
Speed up the game and you are put back into realtime when the enemy
ships are next to you and firing. There is no way to see it coming.
This makes you choose between watching stars go by for hours or
instantly being in combat in the worse position possible.
Well, no, they are usually in extremely bad positions, outside of
firing range and/or facing the wrong way. Besides, they are
incredibly bad shots. Take them out one at a time, and .....
I have to disagree, normally the enemy ships are in firing position,
and are doing just that. Sometimes the "alert" works correctly and
the other ships are just outside of scanner range. GameTek said the
"alert" will be fixed in a patch.
How long would you last is your "alert" put you point blank with an
Imperial Explorer with a 20MW beam laser firing on you? I lasted
about 1/2 of one second (literally). I restored until the alert
placed me at a reasonable distance and won. HOWEVER, my autopilot
and left thruster were damaged. I managed to dock with a station
(with one of my thrusters missing and no autopilot) and made repairs.
Imagine my suprise when I tried to leave the station and my ship
immediately smashed into the side of the docking bay. This is an
acknowledged bug. I feel much better now -> SARCASM <-
~Did you annoy the police when you took off ? Check your criminal
~record.
No, there are just alot of pirates. That may just be the way it is.
If there weren't so many pirates everywhere there would be less
chance for promotion.
