  9. Click = Click the left mouse button
  10.  
  11. -Click on the Start button
  12. -Go to "Programs"
  13. -Click on "Windows Explorer"
  14. -Click on the "Flight" folder in the left side of Explorer
  15. -Right click on the Flight.bat file under the Contents of Flight side of
  16.  Explorer.  This might only show up as  "Flight"
  17. -Click on "Create shortcut"
  18. -Right click on "Shortcut to Flight"
  19. -Click on "Properties"
  20. -Click on the "Programs" tab
  21. -Click on "Advanced"
  22. -Click on "ms-dos mode"
  23. -Click on "Specify new MS-Dos configuration"
  24. -Right click in the "Config.sys" white box
  25. -Click on "Select All"
  26. -Press the "Delete" key
  27. -The text in the white box should disappear.
  28. -Right click in the "Autoexec.bat" white box
  29. -Right click on "Select All"
  30. -Press the "Delete" key
  31. -The text in the white box should disappear.

  33. -Click on the "Start" button
  34. -Go to "Programs"
  35. -Go to "Accessories"
  36. -Click on "Notepad"
  37. -Click on "File" in Notepad
  38. -Click on "Open"
  39. -Click on the down arrow to the right of the "Look in" white box
  40. -Use the scrollbar to find your "C" drive
  41. -Click on your "C" drive
  42. -Click in "file name"
  43. -Type "config.sys" 
  44. -Make sure that the "*.txt" is no longer in the white box as well.
  45. -Click on "Open"
  46. -This should open the file in notepad
  47. -Look for the line with "EMM386" in it (usually looks like
  48.  "DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE")
  49. -Type "rem" and a space in front of the entire line (this should be in front
  50.  of  the D in DEVICE)
  51. -Make sure "files" are "=50"
  52. -Make sure "buffers" are "=30"
  53. -Click on "edit"
  54. -Click on "select all"
  55. -Click on "edit"
  56. -Click on "copy"

  58. -Minimize notepad (in the upper right hand corner click on the underline
  59.  button)
  60.  
  61. -Go back to the "Advanced Program Settings" box
  62. -Right click in the config.sys white box
  63. -Click on "paste"
  64.  
  65. -This should fill the white box with the information you edited
  66. -On your taskbar you should see "notepad"
  67. -Click on "notepad" on your taskbar
  68. -This should bring notepad back up on the screen
  69. -Click on "file"
  70. -Click on "open"
  71.  
  72. -(If  at any time you are prompted to save this modified version of your
  73.  config.sys or autoexec.bat you should answer "no".  You do not want
  74.  to save them.  You want the original versions to remain.)

  76. -Make sure that you are still looking in the "c" drive.
  77. -Click on file name
  78. -Type autoexec.bat 
  79. -Make sure that the "*.txt" is no longer in the white box as well.
  80. -Click on "open"
  81. -Look for a line that has "C:\WINDOWS\SMARTDRV.EXE" in it.
  82. -Type "rem" and a space in front of the entire Smartdrive line
  83. -Look for a line that has "SHARE" in it
  84. -If you find it, type "rem" in front of the entire "Share" line.
  85. -Click on "edit"
  86. -Click on "select all"
  87. -Click on "edit"
  88. -Click on "copy"
  89.  
  90. -Minimize notepad (in the upper right hand corner click on the underline
  91.  button)
  92.  
  93. -Go back to the Advanced Program properties box
  94. -Right click in the autoexec.bat white box
  95. -Click on "paste"
  96.  
  97. -This should fill the white box with the information you edited
  98.  
  99. -Click on "ok"
  100.  
  101. -If you want, you can change the icon for this shortcut to Flight
  102. -Just click on "change icon" 
  103. -Use the scrollbar to locate an icon you like.  (there is an icon with a
  104.  biplane and a cloud that seems perfect)
  105. -Click on the icon of your choice
  106. -Click on "ok"
  107.  
  108. -At this point you should be back to "Shortcut to Flight Properties"
  109.  
  110. -Click on "ok"

  114. -You should now only have Windows Explorer on the screen
  115. -In explorer you should see the "shortcut to Flight" 
  116. -If you like you can move this onto your desktop
  117. -Right click on "shortcut to Flight" and drag it to your desk top.
  118. -Click on "move here"
  119. -Close "Windows Explorer" 
  120. -Move "Shortcut to Flight" to a place you like on your desktop
  121.  
  122. -Make sure that the Flight CD is in the CDROM drive and double click on the
  123.  "shortcut to Flight" icon
  124.  
  125. -The game should now run fine.
