  1. due to various misfortunes, I have had to exchange my old notebook
  2. computer for a Toshiba Satellite 105CS machine.  Ok, I'm not too
  3. disappointed, hey I went from a 486DX4/100 to a Pentium-75 for about
  4. the same price.  Only one problem: Executor and perhaps UniVBE/Display
  5. Doctor are behaving oddly.

  7. The first problem is that, when Executor quits, it does not clear the
  8. screen.  I run Exec from a batch file which writes some things to the
  9. screen after Executor runs.  Now, those messages still get written,
  10. but ON TOP OF the Executor graphic display.  Weeeeird, no?

  12. I've also noticed some problems with graphics artifacts in at least
  13. one program (Bolo 0.99.7 (I think that's the version, anyway it's the
  14. one on the E2 CD).  Although I did notice that Bachman was behaving
  15. "strangely", though I can't really define what "strangely" is -- maybe
  16. the screen is a tad more sluggish, or what?

  18. The problem in Bolo is that the screen does not update properly.  When
  19. I try pulling down menus, I get nothing, although if I keep the mouse
  20. down and "paint" the cursor over where the menu should be, the menu
  21. gradually fades in.  If I select "About Executor" the dialog does not
  22. appear, although if I move the mouse around enough, I can "paint it
  23. in".

  25. Perhaps these are related to the fact that neither UniVBE 5.1 nor
  26. Display Doctor 5.2 offers VBE 2.0 features (mainly linear
  27. framebuffer), even though I install them properly (follow all the
  28. instructions like a good little boy).  Hmm... probably time to contact
  29. SciTech support by e-mail.  Wish I had their e-mail address...

  31. Anyway, here's the details of my old system (where Executor worked
  32. 100%, and UniVBE 5.1 did linear framebuffer and all) and my new
  33. notebook (where neither works right):  Any and all help is greatly
  34. appreciated.  Thanks!
