  3. please forgive this if it is an FAQ...

  5. I was so taken by executor that I have just ordered a copy for 
  6. my home system :)

  8. I've just installed Word 5.1 in my evaluation copy (E-DOS)
  9. here at work, and it seems to work very well, so I know I bought well.
  10.  
  11. However the target platform I am running on at home will be linux.
  12.  
  13. I tried the Linux X version but it appears to be much slower than the DOS 
  14. one - I have 52Mb of RAM under Linux, but only 256kb of cache.
  15.  
  16. Will upgrading the cache improve performance much with E-linux?
  17.  
  18. Also, will running Executor in mono speed it up as well?
  19. How do I set it to mono?

  21. The way I use it is to display the pseudo-mac on my SPARC X-console,
  22. this seems to work well - and there seems to be no performance difference
  23. using it either on the Linux X console or on the SPARC via X protocol.
  24. I don't wish to run X servers on Linux as it is meant to be a file 
  25. server, not a workstation...

  27. When I displayed executor on a PC X server (MSDOS), however, performance 
  28. dropped quite a bit.  Why would this be?

  30. All my displays on Linux and the PC X server are 8 bit (generic SVGA), 
  31. and on the SPARC as a cg3...

  33. of course I did not bother to try spawning multiple sessions, because 
  34. linux won't handle it, but I would like to speed up video performance.
  35. What is the best way to do this?

  37. Finally, is there a list of applications known to run on executor?
  38. (yes I know Word 5 does)

  40. I am *not* interested in games, but useful software, and something like 
  41. Photoshop would be nice ;)

  43. What about Excel or Powerpoint?

  45. (I really hate Macs and MS products BTW, but I need 
  46.  portability for work matters)
