  1. I'm hoping that some one can solve the problems I'm having trying
  2. to run Ultima III (the recent port by beastie@lairware.com, see
  3. also http://www.lairware.com/~beastie/ultima3.html) on Executor.

  5. A bit about my configuration:
  6. Pentium 66/16MB
  7. Ati Graphics Ultra Pro PCI (VBE 1.2)
  8. Soundblaster Pro
  9. Executor/Dos 1.99q9

  11. I've been playing with Ultima III for a few months.  The good news:
  12. It works.  Sound effects work.  But music doesn't.  (I didn't even
  13. bother trying speech).

  15. I get the error message:

  17. Ultima III has run out of memory while attempting to get a music
  18. track.  Use Finder's Get Info command to give another 100K or so
  19. to Ultima III
  20.  
  21. Naturally, Browser isn't quite up to the task.  I have also tried
  22. to use executor -applzone 8m to get more memory, but that doesn't
  23. seem to work.

  25. Another quirk:  When Ultima III loads up, it "wipes" in EXODUS,
  26. which SHOULD be accompanied by some sound effects (works fine on
  27. my Amiga/Emplant) but isn't.  Then it "wipes" in Ultima III which
  28. SHOULD also be accompanied by some sound effects (although I
  29. could have sworn that this used to work on Executor -- I tried
  30. going back to 1.99q but no luck.  Then I tried 1.99p and had
  31. no sound at all).  Finally it shows a small animation of a bunch
  32. of adventurers fighting a dragon.  The dragon breathes on them
  33. and that sound works perfectly.

  35. Naturally, ARDI is very busy, but maybe one day ...
