  12.    After 64 hours of downtime, vorlon.mit.edu (aka narn.mit.edu) has
  13. returned to service.  At 10:30 am Wednesday morning, vorlon suffered
  14. a SCSI controller failure.  (This was originally determined to have
  15. been a hard drive failure, however futher testing indicated that the
  16. SCSI controller was likely to blame.)  On Thursday, Buslogic was
  17. contacted and a BT-946C Rev E card was cross shipped out of warranty
  18. to arrive the next day.  This arrived via FedEx Friday morning, and
  19. after installation and testing vorlon returned to service at 2 AM
  20. Saturday morning.

  22.    While vorlon was down, I also replaced the processor cooling fan
  23. which was likely to fail. I also replaced the power supply with a
  24. 300W+300W redundant power supply, as the previous power supply's fan
  25. had failed several weeks ago.

  27.    I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this outage.  My
  28. hardware is now required to send me e-mail at least 1 week before
  29. it will fail. :-)
