- Try not to laugh, but the America Online mac software has the ability to
- display
- jpg and gif. I was able to view a 256 grey-scale jpg but since executor
- doesn't support more than 256 colors (as far as I know) I was unable to view
- any color photos. It may not be the greatest viewer but its free and it runs
- without a problem on exec199p.

- Yes! I have the same prob. I've got a 100mhz pentium with 16 meg of
- memory and a Gig hard drive... Even just opening the C:\ directory with
- about 13 directory's and 5 or 6 files slows it to a crawl.. the mouse
- skips around the screen, and it has taken as long as 2 min.

- A related porblem that may or may not help. I have a 486 running Win'95. I
- installed the bleeding edge 1.99p2. Whenever I tried to access my Dos
- drives, I would have to wait about 5 minutes for it to scan the drive and
- create a window. Later, when I dropped my modem connection, (which had been
- running a PPP connection for me) Executor accessed the drives fairly quickly.
-
- Hope it helps,

-
- howdy from the wild west folks,
-
- i use MS Word (5.0a) a lot. additionally, i use the weird characters you
- can get with certain fonts (ie, new cent schlbck) if you hold down the
- option key and type a character.
-
- for instance, on a mac i can type Opt-J. this results in a triangle or
- delta symbol being printed instead of a j. this is useful for me when i
- write about certain deletions i have constructed in the lab. now, i know
- that with executor that l-alt is supposed to be the apple or command key
- and that r-alt is supposed to be the opt key.
-
- this is not working for me. is it working for anyone else? on my
- system, both alt keys are equivalent to the apple-command key.
-
- i guess i'll give it a shot with executor-svga 1.99p.
-
- ok, this is like a work in progress!
-
- i just gave MS Word a shot under executor-svga and all the keys are
- mapped correctly. unfortunately, the quality of the screen sucks
- (svgalib problem not executor), the caps lock and num lock keys don't
- work and the number of font sizes available is ridiculously limited.
-
- so, the problem must be with X. anyone know why these key mappings
- aren't working.
-
- stay tuned, more news later...

-
- Yes, I observed this myself earlier today. I'm trying to fix that and
- fix a potentially related bug in PhotoShop3 (where PS3 dies the second
- time you try to open a file) and look into the DOS slow drive opening
- problem.
-
- When I have a handle on those three (hopefully this weekend) we'll
- release 1.99p3.
-
- We've already fixed a few bugs that affect PhotoShop 3 (you can open
- one file and do things with it), Realmz (it's marginally playable
- now), Quicken 4 (usable, although hard to get since Quicken 5 is on
- sale now and Quicken 6 will be out soon), FileMaker Pro (usable
- again). I would guess that we'll get the Ultima III bugs fixed and
- that Swoop also will be running by the time 1.99p3.

- First of all, I just want to say that I'm one of those lurkers who keeps up
- with Exec. and all it's releases, and this list...you guys are doing
- tremendously well, and it seems like after all this time, success will be just
- around the corner...
- Secondly, I'd like to hand it to you for doing what I thought was the
- impossible...Today I loaded up Executor and ran a demo copy of SoftPC, which
- worked (although quite buggy)...I just thought that to be pretty ironic...
- Also, a LOT more of my games and programs work from just the differences in
- the past few upgrades....thanks so much! lookin forward for 2.0!
