- Ok, guys, I have just SOLVED the big mystery of why downloading AOL files
- does not work. AOL files are not encoded in the usual way and include a
- header which is normally decoded when they are downloaded on the MAC,
- however, AOL for Windows does not do this. :( This makes it practically
- impossible to download a MAC file from AOL, even if you put a pseudo
- resource fork on it. The Solution: strip the header off of the file.
- There is an 8K file on AOL called "CHOP.EXE" that will do just that.
-
- After this program has been used you should be able to make a pseudo-
- resource for for your file and it should work without difficulty (though I
- must admit that I have not had the opportunity to test this, I don't see why
- it wouldn't work, and in fact this is the same problem that many had with
- using the PC version of UNSTUFF with AOL files).
