  1. About Executor/DOS 1.99h, the demo version:

  3.   It seems like it is a mixed blessing over Executor/DOS 1.99f.   My problem,
  4. is getting Executor up and running.  Once it does, things are overall much
  5. better than the previous version.
  6.  
  7. My system is a 486-DX2 with *4* Meg of RAM, and Executor is launched with
  8. *no* parameter, and under plain DOS (except for the mouse driver, -no-
  9. resident program loaded)
  10.  
  11. On the plus side:
  12.     -Memory manager seems "fix", and memory paging seems to work.  COmpared
  13.      to E/DOS 1.99f, crashes occur frequently (even with -noclock) when I
  14.      see the hard disk's LED lit while running a big program.  With E/DOS
  15.      1.99h, no crash, related to memory paging, has been experienced so far.

  17.     -Executor now defaults to a screen resolution of 640x400 instead of 
  18.      640x480 in E/DOS 1.99f, which helps to make small letters look a bit 
  19.      bigger (and less hard to read)   Thanks a bunch!   :-)

  21.     -Once Executor ends, the system clock no longer run 4X faster.

  23. On the down side:
  24.     - The MAJOR problem, is getting Executor up... and running.  As I said,
  25.       Executor was started with no parameter on the command line.
  26.       The symptoms look random, here are those experienced, so far:
  27.         - Executor would start, and I can move the mouse, however, Executor
  28.           is freezed: will not respond to clicks from the mouse, and seem to
  29.           to ignore the keyboard, except ctrl-break, which dump me back do 
  30.           DOS, thankfully.

  32.         - On start up, the screen blanks, and a LOUD annoying beep that seems
  33.           to never end is emitted. The only way out seems to be a hard reset.
  34.  
  35.         - On start up, sometimes a segmentation or protection faults
  36.           comes immediately, and I'm back to DOS.
  37.  
  38. For some reasons, After a second or third try, Executor will start normally.
  39. It seems I can not get it up and running on the *first* try. As I said, once
  40. Executor is up and running, applications seem to run OK.
