  4.     Thanks for the answers to all those questions that have

  6. been floating around!  The recent run of questions, however, seems 
  7.  
  8. to have been mainly in the DOS world.  One major question i have
  9. is whether there is currently any kind of list of applications 
  10.  
  11. that work, or work partly/mostly, under Executor on black hardware.
  12. I've started new projects collaborating with Mac-users, and it'd
  13. be very useful to have a handle on where i can be compatible.
  14. Word is great to have, but ResEdit failed (as someone else has 
  15.  
  16. already noted), and it'd be good to know how many apps lie in 
  17.  
  18. between.  I see that NIHimage is close, which is good to hear 
  19.  
  20. (but i'm not sure if it will hit black hardware as soon as it 
  21.  
  22. hits PC-land);  are there a lot of apps that work, or just a few?  
  23.  
  24. Are there a lot that almost work except for certain features or 
  25.  
  26. activities like color/sound/printing/whatever?  Are apps that 
  27.  
  28. work for Executor/DOS likely to work for Executor/NeXTstep 
  29.  
  30. (on black hardware, so that i can infer things from what i see 
  31.  
  32. in DOS-related discussion?  If not (or even if so) then a 
  33.  
  34. well-defined list for each platform would be ideal.
  35.     A list like this was circulated lo these many moons ago 
  36.  
  37. (Sept. 93), but i'm sure that the picture has changed greatly 
  38.  
  39. since then (Word certainly works better!) and i don't recall 
  40.  
  41. seeing a more recent list.  If it exists, could someone post 
  42.  
  43. it to the email list?  And if it doesn't, i'd like to suggest 
  44.  
  45. that one be compiled -- perhaps ARDI could put out what is known,
  46. and other folks could then add info based on their experiences.
  47.     Significant time, effort, and/or $$ can be required to 
  48.  
  49. try out a new app, so knowing in advance if it'll work is important.
