How do you think it will run on a 200 MHz Pentium Pro (i.e. P6)?

Greater than 8 bpp support is currently not implemented. It is on the
cusp of the feature cutoff for 2.0. Currently the plan is to *not*
support it in 2.0, but if Cotton or Mat finishes all the critical/high
problem reports and I'm still plugging away on fixing mine, then
there's a chance that such support would be added while I finish my
work.
If it doesn't make it into 2.0, it will probably make it into an
experimental release that would appear within a month or two after 2.0
