  17. Here's the setup:

  19. I'm running Linux (1.3.12), XFree3.1 (yes I am behind the times) and
  20. Executor-1.99o.
  21.  
  22. We have netware 3.11 running, with the nfs-nlm on it.  I am
  23. NFS-mounting all the netware volumes, which includes a volume with all
  24. the mac software for office.
  25.  
  26. Unfortunately, I am unable to run any of these programs.  (examples:
  27. word 5.1, hypercard, macwrite, macdraw) because executor doesn't see
  28. them as executable.. all the files have the "scroll" icon (I assume
  29. for identifying text files).  When I double click on Word (for
  30. example) it opens Tex-Edit (which is understandable if it thinks it's
  31. a text file).  get-information reveals:

  33. creator: unix
  34. type:    text
  35.  
  36. note, the % files are getting created in these directories (which
  37. also, obviously, means I have write permission in these directories).

  39. So, is there a way to get executor to correctly "create" the
  40. creator/type (or read it from the information that's there -- is this
  41. a quesiton of getting it to be netware-aware, i.e., aware of the way
  42. netware stores the resource fork?)?

  44. attempts to change the creator/type (in this case, to MSWD and
  45. APPL) work (note, if you don't have write permission, it fails
  46. silently (you hit ok, no warning msg, but nothing changes).

  48. however, after i change Microsoft Word to be MSWD and APPL, executor
  49. fails with seg violation (note, the icon has changed to some dude with
  50. a red background (I think that's what it is)).  I get the same
  51. behvaior when I start executor again and try to aceess word.

  55. so I have no idea what's going on, so I think i'll stop here.
