Hi guys,
I did some extensive testing with Executor/DOS 1.99m.
Setup : Toshiba T4400C notebook
486DX2/50 - 12 Mb. RAM - MSDOS 5 - 640x480x256
Executor -nosplash -applzone 8192 -bpp 8
I found the following bugs; most (if not all) are browser bugs.
1.
Chipmunk Basic 3.1.0 crashes when the command 'graphics 0' is given.
This is supposed to open the graphics window. This works with E/D 1.3
2.
PackIt III Version 1.2 hangs the system.
This utility packs/unpacks files to/from .pit format.
Works with previous versions like E/D 1.3
3.
Font/DA Mover does not open the system file anymore. This probably has
to do with the fact that apparantly volumes are locked somehow (more
on this later).
4.
Sometimes browser does not properly show icons. Loading an app or
restarting E/D sometimes repairs this.
5.
Create a clean volume with MKVOL. Use the browser to rename it. And then
rename it again : ERROR -43 in PBHRename
When Continue is clicked it is not renamed. In the ribbon it is but double
clicking the icon gives the old name in the top bar of the drive's window.
When E/D is restarted all is ok (name change has been done then).
6.
Rename a 'copy of file' to the original name when that original exists
in the open folder: ERROR -48 in PBHRename.
7.
When HFS_XFer is used to rename a file to an already existing file it
pops up a warning 'Overwrite existing...?'. When OK is clickes both
files are gone!
8.
It is possible to have multiple copies of the same file in the ribbon.
Not a bug I reckon but awkward.
9.
Showing files/folders in 'listing view' shows pretty incomprehensible
information. No clue is given of the meaning of the figures. A header
of some kind would be nice.
10.
When HFS_Xfer is used for file manipulation on exiting the browser
should update the desktop when changes were made.
11.
When some text is printed (in TeachText) after printing the text in
the application's window is not shown anymore. Moving the cursor
shows that the text is there but it is not shown (or white on white?).
12.
In the dialogue box 'Do you really want to overwrite ...' the cursor
is the downward arrow instead of a normal pointer.
13.
When 'Do you really want to overwrite ...' is answered with OK a
ERROR -43 in PBCatMove results. Afterwards the file in question is
corrupt. Deleting it results in a GPF.
14.
In listing view of a folder's contents one cannot start an app by
double clicking its entry.
15.
When a folder is selected (clicking it once) the Print otion in the
file menu is not dimmed. Selecting it has no action however.
16.
I think that Linux users already complained that volumes are locked.
When utilities like Font DA/Mover or FEDIT are used they cannot open
a volume. This problem certainly is new. Some flag is set wrong.
In general I should say that E/D and browser (guys; again let's come
up with a good name for this beastie!) are getting there. Now that E/D
has a 'face', a number of people that I have shown E/D were stunned.
A general comment:
Since ResEdit does not work and maybe will never (?) work we should have
some sort of way to change a file's icon. Does anybody know of a utility
for this (system 6 ofcourse!).
Will test more this weekend. I am glad with this notebook. It is going to
be very nice weather. But then again; ever tried a TFT screen in the
