We're working on our own stripped-down finder-like app which we'll
release for free. Sadly, Apple's Finder almost certainly won't work
under Executor. In the past we've avoided working on that for legal
reasons, but we've now decided that we are going to pursue a plan that
will let users drop in Apple's System 7.5 and get great compatibility.
No small feat, but this plan has become more practical now that our
improved 68040 emulator could emulate 68k toolbox code at high speeds.
As a side note, some of the questions and bug reports I've seen on the
executor mailing list should probably just be sent to
questions@ardi.com or bugs@ardi.com instead of to everyone on the
executor mailing list. So before you post, consider whether it's the
sort of thing many people might be interested in. Personally I think
that most people would like to see things like reports about what
works and what doesn't, but no one policy will make everyone happy.
:-)
I'm really pleased how understanding people have been with the
experimental 1.99x releases; I feared that more people would complain
about how rough around the edges they are, but instead we're getting
lots of bug reports, constructive criticism, and praise. Thanks!
