FrontDesk is a network-based groupware Message Center and In/Out Board for the NeXT Computer, designed to help offices and departments run smoothly. It consists of a server daemon and a client application, displaying the same information to all users. It also has an API, to allow third-party and custom applications to send messages via FrontDesk. FrontDesk has been in use at several test sites, both commercial and educational, for several months, and is expected to ship in Q3 1992.
This demonstration version only displays two people, does not function over a network, and does not support the API. It requires no installation, and can simply be double-clicked to launch.
FrontDesk has been developed both under NeXTSTEP 2.1 and 3.0PR2, and is fully functional under both releases. Future releases will most likely function only under 3.0, and will offer 3.0-specific features.
FrontDesk was developed by Integrity Solutions, a NeXT custom software developer in St. Paul, Minnesota.
