  3. NOTES REGARDING THIS TRIAL SOFTWARE This trial
  4. software lets you experience firsthand many of
  5. the key capabilities of Claris Home Page.
  6. Because this is a trial version, there are
  7. some limitations:

  9. - This trial software will expire 30 days
  10. after installation.  Contact Claris to
  11. purchase the full product after that time. 
  12. When expired, you cannot save any files.
  13.  
  14. - No online Help is included.  If you
  15. select a Help topic from the Help menu, a
  16. warning is displayed.
  17.  
  18. - No dictionaries are included.  A warning is
  19. displayed if you try to spell check a word or
  20. document or select or edit the dictionaries.

  37. Installation Files This version of the Home
  38. Page installer contains the following files:
  39. - The Claris Home Page 2.0 trial application 
  40. - A Clip Art folder 
  41. - This Read Me file 
  42. - An empty Startup folder.  If you would like Home
  43.   Page to automatically open a file (such as a
  44.   library), place that file, or an alias to it,
  45.   in this folder. 
  46. - A Tutorial folder 
  47. - A "Templates" folder 
  48. - A text file version of the Claris Software
  49.   License Agreement
  50.   
  51. When installing from the Claris Home
  52. Page 2.0 CD, extra free space of approximately
  53. 5MB is required.  This is used as temporary
  54. space during the installation process.

  57. 2. TECHNICAL NOTES AND TIPS

  59. A. Find/Change Limitation
  60.  
  61. Find in Find/Change is limited to 31
  62. characters. A Find for a text string longer
  63. than 31 characters followed by a Replace
  64. replaces only the first 31 characters of that
  65. string.
  66.  
  67. B. Double-clicking on an HTML File Opens it in
  68. a Browser
  69.  
  70. Only one application is allowed to be the
  71. default viewer for a given file extension. In
  72. this case, the browser is the default viewer
  73. for HTML files, so it is opened when you click
  74. on an HTML file. To open an HTML file in
  75. Claris Home Page, drag the file itself (not a
  76. shortcut) to the Claris Home Page icon, or
  77. start Claris Home Page directly, and choose
  78. Open from the File menu. You can also change
  79. the association of the file type-see your
  80. Windows documentation for more details.

  82. C.  Multiple Browsers can be Opened When a
  83. Page is Previewed
  84.  
  85. Some browsers will restart each time a page is
  86. previewed and a new copy of the application is
  87. opened. To free memory, close the application
  88. windows not in use.

  90. D.  Inserting AVI Files
  91.  
  92. Insert .AVI files through the Insert Plugin
  93. menu item.  AVI files will not show in the
  94. Insert QuickTime movie dialog.

  96. E.  Working With Remote Files
  97.  
  98. If you're exchanging files with a site outside
  99. a network firewall that requires PASV ftp,
  100. you'll need to use a different application to
  101. upload and download files.  The save may
  102. appear to work, but will create blank files 0k
  103. in size.

  105. F.  QuickTime Movies for Web Pages
  106.  
  107. QuickTime Movies need to be flattened to play
  108. in web browsers.
  109.  
  110. G.  Crash after inserting a QuickTime movie
  111.  
  112. Video cards that use Hardware Drivers for
  113. QuickTime may cause a crash with Home Page if
  114. you insert a QuickTime or QuickTime VR movie.
  115. To fix this problem go into the QuickTime
  116. control panel and click "More".  Select the
  117. "Video" tab.  Under "Current Video Settings"
  118. set "Draw Method" from "Hardware Driver" to
  119. "Video Driver".

  121. H.  Resizing Movie Files
  122.  
  123. Movie files, such as QuickTime VR panorama or
  124. .AVI files insert very small. They must be be
  125. resized manually.
