  42. A) System Requirements
  43. ======================

  45. -Windows 95 or Windows NT 3.5x (or later) 
  46. -486/66 PC (Pentium strongly recommended) with a minimum of 16 MB of RAM (32 MB on Windows 
  47.  NT preferred--additional memory improves performance on less powerful machines)
  48. -40 MB of available hard-disk space for full installation (10 MB for minimum install)
  49. -SVGA or higher-resolution video monitor
  50. -TCP/IP compliant with Winsock version 1.1 or later
  51. -32-bit ODBC drivers for external database connectivity
  52. -A mouse is highly recommended 
  53.  
  54. You will also need a Web browser installed on your machine.  NetObjects Fusion is optimized
  55. for:

  57.         a) Netscape Navigator 2.0 and higher
  58.         b) Microsoft Internet Explorer 2.0 and higher
  59.         c) Other HTML 3.x compatible browsers

  62. B) Installing NetObjects Fusion
  63. ===============================

  65. If you are installing from the CD-ROM, you need to invoke the setup program by using the 
  66. Start button and choosing Run.  Then browse to your CD-ROM drive and double-click on the 
  67. Setup icon.  
  68.  
  69. If you downloaded the program from our Web site, you have to "unzip" the self-extracting 
  70. .EXE file.  Use the Start button and click on Run and then browse to where your Internet 
  71. browser saved the downloaded file.  The NetObjects Fusion setup program will launch 
  72. automatically at the conclusion of the unzipping process.

  74. Please follow the installation directions. The necessary files will be installed in a 
  75. directory called C:\Program Files\NetObjects Fusion. If you designate a different 
  76. directory, the Example sites may not behave as expected when you preview.

  78. The data files created with NetObjects Fusion have a .NOD extension. The files will be 
  79. stored by default under the NetObjects Fusion directory in the User Sites directory.

  81. Templates created with a previous version of NetObjects Fusion may not be upward compatible.

  84. C) Un-Installing NetObjects Fusion
  85. ==================================

  87. To un-install NetObjects Fusion, simply launch the Add/Remove Program from your Control 
  88. Panel and select NetObjects Fusion. The Un-installer will not delete any files you have 
  89. created with NetObjects Fusion.

  92. D) Upgrading from NetObjects Fusion 0.9 Pre-release
  93. ===================================================

  95. This version of NetObjects Fusion is designed to be compatible with all your data files 
  96. created with previous releases of NetObjects Fusion.

  98. When updating sites created in NetObjects Fusion 0.9 Pre-Release Edition to the new 
  99. release of NetObjects Fusion, you may lose some manually placed links.  If this happens, 
  100. you will need to re-link the link elements you've lost.

  104. E) Helpful Tips for Using NetObjects Fusion 
  105. ===========================================

  108.  
  109.     *  We recommend that you do not run multiple instances of NetObjects Fusion.  If 
  110.        you have more than one instance running at the same time, you risk corrupting 
  111.        your data and being forced to rebuild your site.
  112.  
  113.     *  If Preview does not launch your default Browser, check the Edit|Preferences
  114.            dialog, and if necessary, re-install your favorite browser if it does not 
  115.        appear in the dialog box. To select Microsoft Internet Explorer as your
  116.        default browser, simply mark the "Internet Document" option as the default.

  118. SiteStructure Editor
  119.  
  120.         *  By default, NetObjects Fusion uses the name of the page you add in your Site 
  121.        to generate the automated navigation elements.  You may want to keep your 
  122.        page names short (less than 15 characters).

  124. PageDraw Editor
  125.  
  126.         *  HTML browsers do not support overlapping elements.  If your site does not appear 
  127.        exactly as you expect, check your layouts to see that there are no overlapping 
  128.        elements.  Overlapping objects are indicated in reverse colors.

  130.         *  Shockwave animations may not preview correctly in Internet Explorer if the path
  131.            to the original file includes spaces.  The animation, however, will
  132.        stage and be published correctly.
  133.  
  134.         *  Importing a form page may produce unexpected results.
  135.  
  136.         *  In this release, Import HTML will not position the elements of your page in a 
  137.        WYSIWYG fashion.  Reposition them to create a new layout.

  142.         *  When using the SiteMapper Java application and the Forms-Handler CGI script, 
  143.        please make sure to read the ReadMe files located in their respective
