BEZ Alert!! BEZ Alert!! BEWARE, it's another one of those mind-
bending games from the amazing BEZ man. In previous issues, Rock &
Scroll, RelationShips, and Zig Zag Flag Shag kept your gray matter
gyrating. This month, MIX Matcher continues the BEZ tradition of
challenging fun. The object of this game is to move each square on
the right of the screen into the boxes on the left. Sounds simple
enough. However, there is a restriction: when you move a square, the
colors on its sides must match the colors of each square that it
touches. This game should be child's play, but for some reason the
last piece never seems to fit. You'll need your thinking cap firmly
attached to conquer this latest BEZ challenge.
^1PLAYING THE GAME
To begin the game, simply choose one of the pieces on the right side
of the screen. Do this by pressing the letter which appears directly
under the desired piece, or if you are a mouseketeer, place the mouse
cursor on the piece and click. You must then place the piece in the
grid on the left side of the screen. The computer will check to see
that all sides match and if not, WHAM you lose, so take your time and
think each move through carefully.
If you place a piece but realize that it is not in the best place
for future moves, you can remove it by using the <F4> menu option then
selecting to ^1UNDO LAST MOVE^0. You can also start over on a puzzle by
using the other two options of the <F4> menu. The ^1RE-MIX PIECES^0
option starts the puzzle over with the pieces arranged in a different
order. The ^1START GAME OVER^0 option allows you to play the puzzle over
again using the same arrangement of the pieces.
To win the game you must correctly place all sixteen pieces in the
grid. After the first game, the computer will place a few of the
pieces in the grid for you. In later games, it will even hide some
pieces for which you must guess the correct color sequences. The
puzzle is the same, so simply move all the pieces from the right to
the left.
^1CHANGE THE CHALLENGE
If you get tired of a puzzle or just can't determine the solution,
you can use the <F2> key to load a new, more difficult puzzle. There
are ten different puzzles to choose from. You may choose either ^1START^0
^1NEXT GAME^0 and get the next puzzle or ^1RESET TO GAME 1^0 to go back to the
first puzzle.
^1ACTIVE KEYS
The following function keys are active:
<F1> - Display the HELP screen.
<F2> - Load a more difficult puzzle.
<F3> - Toggle the sound and speech on or off.
<F4> - Start over or undo a move.
<ESC> - Exit a menu without change or QUIT program.
If you have a mouse, the cursor on the screen looks like a match.
Place it on the function keys listed at the top of the screen, and
click it to activate the function. You may also use the mouse to
answer Yes-or-No questions. The left button is YES and the right is
NO.
