Instructions
This program has several useful features. In order to use it, you need only
follow the directions on the screen in most cases.
However, for some parts of the program, you need to know some specific
responses that the program expects.
For example, when you finish a quiz, the program asks you to stop and wait
for the teacher to record your grade. Until the password is entered, you
cannot proceed. The current password is DISK. You should note this for now.
You can change the password in the quiz utilities section. However, you
need a code before you can change the password. The code is Control-A. You
need to remember Control-A to change the password.
The program prints the teacher's name on the screen as part of the message.
You can use the teacher ID choice from the utilities to put your name in as
the teacher.
To create a bootable version on your own disk, format a disk with the /S
option (to place MS-DOS on the disk; see your DOS manual for details), then
use the COPY IT option from BIG BLUE DISK to place the QUIZ MAKER program on
your disk. Then, set up an AUTOEXEC.BAT file with the line "TEACHER1".
To disable the utilities portion so your students can't access it, make the
AUTOEXEC.BAT line say "TEACHER1 S". The "S" option disables the utility
portion and these instructions. You can still run the program unrestrictedly
by typing "TEACHER1" without the "S". To really make the program secure from
your students, you can delete the files TEACHER3.EXE and TEACHER4.EXE from
the disk used by your students, but be sure to keep a complete copy of these
programs for yourself!
Make a copy of the master for each student station. Several students can
take the quiz at once.
You can elect to print an answer sheet for yourself or a question sheet for
the student. I put a ditto master right in my printer and then run off copies.
I have the students write down their answers and then make corrections when
the program tells them which ones they missed.
This immediate correction helps students to learn the facts they missed.
Of course, if you have no need for printed copies, you can just ignore this
option.
