  8. Commodore Appoints New Vice President for Application
  9. And Technical Support Group
  10.  
  11. Gail Wellington, General Manager of the Commodore Applications
  12. and Technical Support group (CATS), has been promoted to the
  13. newly created position of Director of Special Projects where she
  14. will lead Commodore's development of optical disk technologes.
  15.  
  16. Succeeding Gail is Jeff R. Scherb. Jeff comes to Commodore from
  17. Cullinet Software, Inc., where he was responsible for
  18. development, support, quality assurance, and product planning for
  19. a variety of their key software products.  Most recently he was
  20. Vice President in charge of Database and Data Communications
  21. Development and was responsible for software development centers
  22. located in Massachusetts and California, and in Brussels,
  23. Belgium.

  25. Jeff's extensive experience in the business software marketplace
  26. will further Commodore's goal of enhancing the  quality and
  27. professionalism of Amiga third party products.  Commodore remains
  28. committed to maintaining a high level of support for the Amiga
  29. product-development community.

  33. BADGE Killer Demo Contest 2  Winners and Prizes Announced
  34.  
  35. The third annual BADGE Killer Demo Contest was held during the
  36. October BADGE meeting at the Santa Clara Convention Center. The
  37. annual programming competition yielded an impressive variety of
  38. graphic and audio displays that show off the Amiga's
  39. capabilities.   First place was awarded to Brad Schenk for The
  40. Sentinel, a ray-traced animation featuring a medieval theme. 
  41. Schenk also was awarded the prize for best graphics.

  43. Second place went to Roger Curren for his humorous cartoon
  44. animation, The VAUX Killer Demo.  Curren also won the award for
  45. funniest demo.  Commodore engineer Bill Koester placed third with
  46. Amiga Trek, a ray-traced animation featuring a Star Trek-like
  47. theme.  Koester's demo also had the dubious distinction of being
  48. the largest  in size using eight  880K disks and requiring 8
  49. megabytes of memory  to run.

  52. disks 263 through 272.

  84. Test Engineer Position Open at Commodore, West Chester

  86. The Test Engineering Department of Commodore's  West Chester,
  87. Pennsylvania manufacturing operation is seeking a qualified
  88. individual for the position of Senior Test Engineer.  Primary
  89. functions include:
  90.  
  91. o    Developing quality test plans and procedures and test
  92.     software for new products.
  93. o    Generating inspection and audit test procedures for
  94.     sub-assemblies and finished products.
  95. o    Providing technical assistance to other engineering,
  96.     quality, and manufacturing functions to define and correct
  97.     Product Assurance test issues.
  98. o    Designing test fixtures for inspection and acceptance
  99.     testing of sub-assemblies and finished products.

  101. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in Electrical
  102. Engineering/Computer Science and at least five years experience
  103. as a test engineer or equivalent work experience.  The job
  104. requires programming experience in C, 68000 assembly or Forth. 
  105. Preferred applicants will have more than two years experience
  106. with AmigaDOS and Amiga hardware.  Familiarity with Exec,
  107. AUTOCONFIG and the Zorro bus is considered a plus.  For more
