Dear Big Blue Disk,
How is that I cannot delete pixels in the zoom mode of Brushstrokes
published on BBD #30? I can only add. Am I missing something?
^RCharles Marks
^RBoston, MA
^1> With Brushstrokes, DELETING a pixel at any time is an inaccurate concept.
^1>You can only change a pixel's color, you cannot delete it. The four color
^1>keys 1 - 4 are active at all times and you can change the current drawing
^1>color with them. While in zoom mode, if you press any of these keys, the
^1>pointer's color will change indicating what color will be drawn or plotted
^1>when you next draw or plot.
^1> If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Dear Big Blue Disk,
This is absolutely the first time I have ever corresponded by computer.
I hope this is done correctly as I believe I have a problem with my copy of
BBD #38, disk #1. Specifically, Legends of Murder, Vol 1. doesn't seem to
work.
When running the program, I get only three message screens. The last
screen ends with "King was killed by sorcerous means". When the SPACE key is
pressed, the text disappears and nothing else happens. Just the title map and
a blank screen.
This is the first time that I have tried to run this particular selection
and thought that my IBM 50Z was too fast. Then tried to run this program on
an older IBM XT.(640K 40M HDR.) No luck! All the other selections on the disk
work great.
Suggestions? Has anyone else had a problem with Stonedale or am I doing
something wrong?
Of course, now that I can't run this program, I want it yesterday. HA!
Seriously, any help you can give will be much appreciated.
I have been a subscriber since Issue 34 and want to take this time to tell
you that you are all doing a great job.
Keep up the good work!

^1> Thanks for the vote of confidence. We have had several people mention
^1>that Legends of Murder, Vol. 1 seems to lockup after the last message.
^1>Actually, the program is waiting for you move the Inspector using one of the
^1>arrow keys.
^1> In the upper lefthand window, a partial map of of the castle is displayed.
^1>Along the bottom of the window, near the door, is a little figure that
^1>represents the Inspector. When you press one of the arrow keys, you will see
^1>this figure move. Also, you can press the <F1> key at anytime to obtain a
^1>list of the active command keys.

Dear BBD,
I have been buying Big Blue Disk on and off now for about a year. Of all
the useful programs I've found, Software Indexer (on BBD #23) has been
particularly handy. I have a large number of public domain and shareware
programs that I trade back and forth on bulletin board systems and I use the
Software Indexer to keep track of them so I don't start accidentally keeping
duplicates.
Although very useful, I find it somewhat limiting in some areas. Once the
database has been established it can only be saved in its original form, even
though the program allows sorting on a field or fields. My PC is slow enough
and the database large enough that searching and sorting takes a fair amount
of time. Would it be possible to modify the program to allow saving sorted
versions of the database to different files? Or even just have the option of
saving a sorted database as the new master database? The ability to subsort
would also be nice (ie. sort entire database by category and then have each
individual category sorted independently by program name to give an
alphabetized list of the programs in each category). It would also be
convenient to have a little more space in the description category (eg. an
extra line). Its hard to squeeze much relevant information into the space
presently available.
On a recent issue of BBD ( #38) I saw the living demo of PC-USA and I knew
I had to have it. I don't even have to see the demo of PC-Globe 3.0 to know
that I want it too! With school aged children in the family, a computer based
Atlas as comprehensive and friendly as PC-USA and PC-Globe appear to be would
be invaluable. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

^1> I am happy to hear that you really enjoyed the PC-USA demo contained on
^1>Big Blue Disk #38. Both PC-USA and PC-Globe 3.0 are very nice programs.
^1> Actually, this letter got here just in time! We have just started talking
^1>about producing a new version of the Software Indexer program. Many of the
^1>features you have requested should be included in this new program. Thanks
^1>for the suggestions.

Dear Big Blue Disk,
When I play HEARTS (BBD # 33), I cannot turn off the sound - the function
key has no effect. Video arcades give me a headache, and the shuffle, thwump,
ring and tweet of HEARTS spoil my enjoyment of the game. I've mastered
neither my hard disk nor DOS and haven't a clue how to quiet the audio. Can
you help?
Gary Huebner

^1> You can turn the sound off by pressing the 'S' key anytime after the cards
^1>have been dealt and the 3 card pass has been performed. All the command keys
^1>are defined in the rules section of the game. You are prompted to view the
^1>rules at the very beginning of the game. You may also examine them during
^1>the game by simply pressing the 'H' key.
